I've got a big block 425 in my 1980 Camaro and if that isn't strange enough I am in the process of trying to twin turbo it but I have no clue what carb to run and I need to know what turbo's are good for low end power being that the motor maxes out at 5,000 rpm's. Please any suggestions I am totally new to running turbos on anything with a carb.

Why not just go with a shot of nitrous? A lot less work.

    Fixed! This is theturboforums.

To the OP, I have never messed with turbos and carbs but I am assuming with your cid and rpm a nice 750cfm modified for blow through would work well.

A pair of P-trim turbine turbos with 60-66mm compressors should work well, not knowing what kind of power you are looking to make...

61mm P trims, aka 6165's, .69 or .81 AR t4-these work well from 350 to 427 cid, the rpm range just changes.
They are good for at least 1000fhp.
you'll want a 224 to a 230 size cam with upgraded springs. Seat pressure will be more important than over the nose.
    750dp on a single plane
spend some time in the carb forums
make sure you have at least 30 spline axles.

I am looking for between 500 and 600 horsepower, unfortunately there isnt a lot of options for the heads on the car unless I want to spend like 3500 bucks so I cant run too much power. And I will have a strong rear end and I have a good trans behind it. I am also wondering what kind of place do I go to get the pipes or do I just buy a universal kit and mix and match?

Not sure turboing the 425 is a good way to start even with the 600hp limit. The 425 may be the same dimensionally as the larger 472/500 engines but they are much different internally. The blocks and cranks are much lighter in build and more prone to flexing. The 425 is a good engine N/A with mild mods but not many do much more than that with them except a few NHRA stock class racers. That said, it would be cool if you could prove all of this wrong.

I've run fairly stock 472/500 engines with turboes to 600hp many times with very little done to them and they do pretty well to that point. If you can swap in a 472/500 you get the benefit of more power but also a stronger engine that will fit where the 425 is. There are no bolt on kits for what you want to do. It is strictly a custom build deal.

There is a guy who has done it. He has a video on youtube of it but he is impossible to get ahold of and I couldn't ask him how well it worked out. I really am not expecting to run faster that like high 11's with the car but I would like to do something different that a small block chevy. I just know nothing about running the intake on a carb for turbos.

I understand the saving a few bucks in the short run, but far from the same results. I like knowing that the power will be there no matter how much I use it, no matter the temperature, no need to look at a gauge to see how much is left.

Oh I do agree with that, I went with a procharger just for that reason. Besides where I lived having a nitrous bottle in the trunk is illegal and it would have had to been mounted in the car. I just wanted to throw another idea out there is all. Nitrous goes for less then $500 any procharger or turbo can cost 5x's that.
