I got the car to a test n tune on the 15th.
Set it up for shakedown runs with 7 psi waste gate springs, but they only showed 5.5psi on the datalogs. Car went 10.77 @ 131. The engine ran great and i cant be happier sith how it runs.
But...........I had couple problems. The H pattern shifter refused to go into 3rd gear on a power shift. I am installing the inline shifter that came with the trans to fix that. Also I only had my street tires to run on - 28x12.5 ET Street bias, they just don't seem to be able to hold any power on the start line, it blazed the tires through second gear, and ran sad 1.8 60ft's. I need to get a second set of wheels and put 28x10.5 slicks on it, I know they will hook this thing. Then maybe I can crank up some boost!

No baby yet, my wife is all kinds of uncomfortable, but doin good. Due on June30. If I'm lucky I'll get the car back to the track in mid to late July

With A manual and all that power i bet you'll end up Pulling a ton of timing on the line to get it to hook. Congrats on not destroying anything on the maiden voyage!

Thanks guys, I'll get some video soon. I have some now, but they are stupid long with only short interesting parts. I don't have a video editing program yet, need to find 1, any suggestions?
car sounds like a pussycat with the street exhaust, and when I had it opened up at the track it was still crazy quiet ??? The turbo must absorb ALOT of sound!

I finally got some time to edit a vid of the first pass with the turbo combo. It is on a 7psi Wastegate spring, but it only made 5.5psi according to the logger. somewhere around 650hp. 91 octane gas, 1 #10 and 2 #2 nozzles of water/meth coming on at 4 psi It spun so hard I couldnt beleive it, all the way through 1rst, and most of the way through 2nd as you can see in the vid. I thaught the 28x12.5 ETstreets would hold it for sure, WRONG!, lol I better get the slicks on it for next time out! Ran 10.77 @ 131 with a pathetic 60ft as the vid shows
Also the H-pattern shifter was a BITCH to hit 3rd gear with, only made 3 clean passes out of 6 because of it, so the inline pistol grip has already been installed.

what are u using to control timing? if you have a switched input like in an msd box id hook up a timing retard switch for first gear to help w traction. looks like a blast! congrats on the little girl!

    What rpm at the stripe

I don't remember rpm at stripe , and I erased the log, lol. I geared it tall, thinking it may have 145 trap speed potential with the 16 psi tuneup. It crossed the line in 4th gear, didn't go fast enough to get into 5th with this 5psi tune.

I am using an MSD 6010 for timing. I already use the built in timing retard together with the 2step to build boost at the start line. I also have an MSD boost controller wired up in the car, I just have not used it yet. I'm not sure if I have the 2 activation wires connected in a way that will work right when I stage the car??? More work to do...
The 28x10.5 m/t slicks I'm picking up will hook I am confident. I borrowed a set last year and they were night and day better than my ET Street bias . But you are right, I may have to plot the rpm timing in a way that softens the launch once the boost is turned up.

Thanks for the video, it sounds awesome, keep up the good work.
I never got my Chevelle done in time to bring my girls home from the hospital in it, wish I could have. Although my oldest (when she was four) did help me when I put the motor together. Enjoy that little girl!

Same here. Holy hell that's awesome. So untouched shortblock? Like no rod/main bolts or shaved rings? Did you even clean it up?

I removed the heads, used oven cleaner, lol, to clean the carbon off the piston tops, and installed a used LY6 oil pump - because I know it makes better oil pressure, and then Installed my used cam. The l92 heads had 100k on them, I lapped the valves, and installed and shimmed my valve springs to perfect installed heights. And used LS9 head gaskets / Chinese studs. I also installed correct length 3/8" comp pushrods for it.
My buddy works at the wreker I Baught the engine from, and he said it ran when they pulled it. So I did not even touch the rotating assy.
