Alright guys. Just wanted to get opinions on my turbo sizes before I pulled the trigger.

408W, custom ed curtis cam w/ a ~6k redline, AFR 205's, Trickflow R box upper and ported lower w/90mm TB. And it's a stick car with 3.31 gears. HP goals are ~700.

Hotside is a B&G twin kit with 3inch downpipes.

So I was looking at two of these

    Part # 706765J-68

I really wanted something in a 63mm turbo with a .68 A/R. I know borg warner makes some, but I hear they are pretty big sized. I want to stay under $1,000 per turbo and not use chinese junk. So any opinions or suggestions are welcome.

Two of those turbos in the link you posted would be about perfect on a 408 for what you're looking to do....you wont have to even try to make only 700hp with that combo lol.

Yeah you don't need anything over $800 a piece to make 700hp in twin setup on a 408. Check out the borg warner s366 line too....66mm, t4 .81/.91/.96 a/r options with a little bigger than p-trim exhaust wheels, $750 a piece!

Is it true the borg Warners are bigger framed?

.81 is a little big for a 6k rpm redline, the 6176s are good to 1400hp. I was told that the 66s were too big for my 1100hp car

Just go to modern automotive performances website and search 6176, if i wasnt on my phone id link them

On a 408, couple 66mm with. 81ar is no big deal even with a 6k redline...he's just saying 6k, 700hp now, he'll be turning that shit up in a week and he won't be kicking himself in the nuts then for buying small turbos in the beginning.

I'm still running a 74 351w block. So 700 is what I feel safe running. If I had a dart, 1200 would be my goal.

On a street car having full boost for 1500rpms isnt ideal, ill stick with my turbos. Full boostc by 3500 and carries it up to redline. Also being a stick car go smaller or you will have trouble builing much boost off the line

Just buy a $850 borg warner s480 and be done with it...still easily get 700hp with room to grow, unless you're only going for the "wow factor" of the twins.

I have the hotside coming already for twins. Plus I don't feel like hacking up the inner fenderwell, relocating my alternator and going to manual steering.

Either way you don't need much of anything to make 700hp with a turbo 408, buy what you can afford and get to driving the thing.

What do you guys think the difference in spool would be between the 66mm BW and the 6176 precision? I was looking at both of these turbos for a twin setup on a 370" genIII HEMI.

Probably nothing worth talking about on a good 370" engine.
