I have had an MS2 with the extra code for a couple years now. I did drive the truck every day for almost a year and a half. It could probably use a pro tune, but I got it close.

Autronic SM2 and ViPEC V88. I like the ViPEC best.

...I also still have an ancient Holley Pro-Jection, the throttle body injection style that you program with a couple of dials on the case of the "ECU". I have never used it though.

Jerry bought a used one of these a while ago with a dead control unit for the throttle body. I took the control unit apart out of curiosity. I was surprised to find it didn't have any sort of processor inside it whatsoever.

Hey Matt is there a list of Tuners that can tune a Mega Squirt? If not how hard would it be to get a list made? I had tried to contact a couple shops in SC and no one ever replied to my emails.

Right now all we have a is a short list of what shops we have personally worked with or have customers give good feedback about. Unfortunately, it's not a very large list; the closest I can think of to you are both in the Atlanta area - Balanced Performance and Forged Performance.

Expanding the list to create some sort of official site we'd be willing to endorse would be pretty involved. We'd both need to talk to the tuners and get customer references. Probably even check some tunes they've created to be sure they look reasonable.

Thanks, if I get my truck back to South Carolina I may shoot over to ATL and check it out. May stop by and see your shop as well.

The ViPEC is really easy to tune. The software is very user friendly (a lot more friendly than Autronic). Ity has a really cool Runtime Values screen which shows you in a number of Tabs exactly what each input or output is reading or doing. It also has a mixture map tuning feature which means you run the engine (go for a drive) and have the logging function record all the values. Then when you connect your laptop and download the log file, you can project it over the AFR table and it will show you the deviations in different colors (green is no deviation, and it goes through yellow and orange to red for a large deviation). You then click to correct the cells or table and it changes the fuel table. This works very well. The ViPEC also has a lot of features and is very versatile. I even activate 4th gear and the lockup in my A518 overdrive trans, activate water/meth, electric water pump, electric vacuum pump, fan, two fuel pumps - but one will only run while in boost or above a certain throttle opening, etc, etc.
