i am going to make some changes this winter, one was to maybe run the MSD 6530 box, so i can map out timing changes-i am running an HEI dist now, with 30 degs total advance, about 9 lbs boost-on the street i run the timing up to 36, as it likes it, but dont get it into too much boost
i would prefer to put the $$$ into a roller cam, im curious what total timing some of you guys are gettig away with on a BB-i realize there are a lot of varibles
i was trying to get a clean look at the timing mark on the plug, but hard to see
i run 93 on the street, and if i make some passes i run about a 50-50 mix with 110, non intercooled, F1A

If wanna do another cam for your current combo I would recommend calling Steve Morris. He has done a lot of non ic motors and has played with cams to find out what works best.

Its kinda funny cuz 9 lbs is just about NA to him.

Calling Steve is a good idea both on CAM,Combo and initial timing. My setup always liked more timing 30* Some of that was due to the inefficient overall combo imo. The MSD box will allow you to change from street to track tunes easily. Start mid 20's and work your way up

Mine is a street car 496 with 12 lbs of boost. It has a custom grind cam for the blower. I run water methanol injection my compression is 8-1 so steve told me I can run the timing at 36 but I run it at 30 to keep it safe. I red line it at 6k also I have not heard any signs of detonation either. I may crank it up to 36 just to try a short blast but it is scary fast to me at this point.
