Idk anyone who runs the nt-05r but from what ive seen online the mickey et streets are stickier. That being said, my friend runs MTs on his 11 sec street car and they only last like 4-6k street miles. Im on my second set of nitto nt555r's and I get about 15k miles on them.

how do the 555r's and nt-05r handle? can you take turns aggressively with them or are they just for a strait line?

Well, If your wanting a sticky tire that will take curves, then go with the nitto invo's. Alot of roll racers with 8-900hp cars use them on the street for the chance of having to swerve at high speeds. I don't do this, just what I hear from those that do it.

I hade 2 sets on my 97 and it sets lower than stock and i have taken some good bends in the toll road
at 135 they just are not good in the rain but none of that type are.

Mine were 18" with low side wall.

I would definitely say that it depends on the tire size and sidewall. I have 275/60/15's and it sways a lot on turns. Now if you have the 275/40/17's, not so much

I definitely like the the mickeys better for dragstrip but the nittos are supposed to be better for cornering I think and last a bit longer

This all depending on your preference of what your going to be doing with the car. If your doing road racing, the smaller side walls is what you want for the corning 30-40series sidewalls. Less flex because of shorter so less roll into the corners. Anything 50-60 series sidewalls on a DR is considered more or less a drag racing tire because of its ability to flex and wrap when the pressure is dropped. One of those tires on corner racing with low pressure = blowing it off the bead. I've used MT DR's, BFG's. Nitto 555's. M&H, Goodyears. And from my experience with High HP and TQ the MT's by far were superior in grip department, but costly and it eats the compound fast. On the street, BFG's and the 555's lasted for me, and still gave me reliable grip at the track. The MH were awesome at the track but again softer compound got ate fast on regular road driving. I also ran the 275/60/15's as 302 does. So I guess the question is what are you intentions for wanting these tires? Road race style driving? Drag racing? Because thats going to give you your info on tire size/rim size on what you should have on for optimal grip.

I read a test in a 5.0 mag where they did back to back runs NT05R vs MTs on a 600hp stang. They gave a very slight edge like a 10th of a sec to the nittos. Although I think Nittos are one of there big sponsers. Might be worth a try though I have no real life exp with them but Ive heard that there just as good as the mt DRs. I know the normal nt05 and 555s arnt very sticky, last a lot longer good street tires, will work at the strip but there no MT

My last 3 tires (275/17's) were the Nitto 555r's, MT ET Street radials, and the Nitto NTO5R's. The 555's were ok for traction with reasonably good handling. The MT ET Street radials were much better for traction (over 3/10ths quicker 0-60 mph on my G-tech meter), but not quite as good handling. The Nitto NTO5R's hook just as well as the MT's but handle better with a stiffer sidewalls. They are my favorite tire so far. My friend cut 60 foots in the high 1.4's with both the MT's and NTO5R's. Cheers.

Hey man I have nt555r on my sn95 and I love them. Had them since november of last year and as long as you keep them around 35psi on the street for normal driving they will last. Nitto recommends the lowest pressure for the track should be around 17psi I dropped it down to 20psi and was spraying nitrous off the line. Also they slip a little so you don't crap out your rear end or your trans just my .02

I have the nt05r's on my car. Switched from the mt's to try them out and I am never going back. They work much better for me. Have about 5000 miles on them so far and still have a few 1000 miles left in them. Never had a problem with them on the highway. I have the 275/40/17's.
