This is for all DIY per Hangar18 instructions or your own mods. Hopefully this will help keep a lot of the separated topics from being all over the place if we can have all DIY "ONLY" carb discussions here.

Damn. . .my crappy website has a forum dedicated to it! Maybe I'll have to finally update my site (ahem. . .a little help Walt? My HTML skills are not so mad anymore. :D)

For those of you who have sent me PM's and emails on some of my carb mods over the past few years, I apologize for not getting back to you in a timely manner. Long work hours at a quickly growing company, raising a daughter, a cross-county move, and buying a new house have kept me away from racing and carburetor modification for a long time. I still have all my carburetor tools to install boosters, calculate flow areas, as well as my custom tooling for the old-school BRPV's that Brent and I (mostly Brent, as well as a few others) worked on. I have just not had the time to play with them.

BTW Brent, I'm going to have to give you a call now that I'm done with the 80-100 hour weeks. Maybe I can get some time to get to the dyno and get your help to get me back up to speed with these paperweights that have been on my bench for 4 years:

np brotha I will hook you up.

I have many pics, posts, docs that I had intended on using to updating the DIY route but haven't over the past decade  Maybe we can prompt each other :2thumbs:

I have a 850 Demon Carb, I have used the search here but really havent found the answer I was looking for. I have read the instructions for the Holley, can these instructions be used on a Demon or is there something different that I need to do.

I just noticed that the title of the forum should be "Hangar18" and not "Hanger18" :D

Since I'm here, here is a gratuitous shot of a prototype BRPV that me and Brent worked on years ago. We've all come a long way!

LOL... glad it took you that long... as I made the initial mistake... and never caught it myself. All set.

I still have a few of the old mechanical BRPV's around. Never felt 100% confident in them. Lots of playing with springs to get it sorted. and sealing issues were my concerns

    Thanks Walt! :D

I still have yet to use a BRPV. I was reviewing datalogs from my 5.85 pass and never went over 12:1 AFR. Of course, that will have been 5 years ago in November!

I played with the mech ones but really never needed them and prob caused more problems than anything else. Many folks hop in and want vent-exts, brpv, drilled passages, boosters etc.... without just trying a basic carb...and tuning/changing from there. For lower boost/Hp they work the majority of the time. Heck back in the day we just used the carb already on hand and just hoped not to blow chit up while working through the combo.

I'm still running my first ever blowthrough carb that has a whopping $75 in it. It's built exactly the same as what's in my blowthrough carb article on my site.

If I ever get back to the track I'm sure I can better my 5.85@122 without getting crazy. I still have the annular boosters sitting in my carburetor toolbox (yes, I have a dedicated carb toolbox!) that I never installed. Good thing I have a booster tool collecting dust!

. I have a carb box as well. Just too many small parts and its the best way to "try" not to misplaced them.
    LOL
Best part is I know I have annulars boosters somewhere as well that I never put in my personal carb .... I think they borrowed, corroded and vanished

Time flies once kids show up...you'll get that thing together and it'll run better than before...even with the heavier cage in it.

You can say that again. The cage shouldn't be too much heavier since it will be 4130. Besides, last time I checked, I'd have to weigh almost 3600lbs to run Outlaw 8.5. Right now, I'd have to add about 450lbs of ballast.

Besides, I'm too busy playing with the english wheel in the garage preparing myself for Vega floor panel replacement:

Would it be possible to show a diy for converting a bt carb from regular pump gas to e85? I bought a bt carb from blownshovel a few years ago, still haven't gotten to use it, but hopefully that'll change here pretty soon if all goes to plan.
