Anyone know if it's possible to replace the seals on a GT28R?

It's the Garret GT28R Ball Bearing. I bought a Twin Kit, but the oil seals are obviously blown. Oil inside the compressor inlet pretty bad. Not much side play and spins great.

Anyone know if this is possible? Most people say I gotta buy a new cartridge but if anyone could do, I figure the guys on turbomustangs can! Ha...

Most modern turbos don't have any positive seal at all, they just have oil slinger/piston ring seals that shouldn't touch anything to really wear, unless the rest of the turbo is worn out. Usually oil getting in places it shouldn't is the result of a problem with the return, too much engine blow-by or just too much pressure/flow at the oil inlet (though I would argue that a better return is a better solution to this problem rather than the restrictor that some people run, though the restrictor is sometimes the more practical solution)

Hmm, I'm pretty sure it already has a restrictor. I guess I need to find out which one it has. What size is good for a restrictor? FYI, the return is 10an.

Just pulled out my restrictors, they are NX .031 . Is that what is causing oil seepage?

Are the turbos higher than the oil level in the pan? They have to gravity drain...any pictures of your setup?

The turbo's are lower than the OIL Pan. This is on a NSX. I have a Oil Pump and also a Tank.

I've read a few guys with the same kit on their NSX's are running .060 restrictors. Is there a big difference between that and my .031 restrictors?

Also, is -10 return lines sufficient or so I need -12?

Another thing, my -10 return line runs all the way to the top of the motor and into the Oil Fill Cap. Is this a problem?

That is just making the pump work harder pushing the oil up hill i would run the pump to the oil pan.

I kind of figured that, I'm not sure why the kit has me returning oil in the oil fill cap.

    Should I change to 12an?

How about he .030 restrictor? Is that ok?

So, If I change all this there is a change the problem will fix itself? Like I said before, other than the oil seepage, the turbo is fine.

a larger diameter hose COULD be a factor. the larger the hose, the more oil it can hold and the more weight the pump has to push. on my rear mount kit on my truck my pump is rated to about 3gpm and pumps the oil to the valve cover via a 3/8" solid copper hose (got it at home depot for $10 ) works great.

30gph seems slow, maybe some one else can confirm or deny

here is the pump i run, http://www.pumpvendor.com/Jabsco_23220_series.html 3.2gpm which would be 192gph unless my math is bad. big difference from your 30gph. again, i may just be completely wrong

Titon diff. Cooler pump is 1-2 gpm with gear oil.
I'm going to say those 2 turbos flow 1-
    2 gpm
