I'm putting parts together for now, and would like to know what sort of compression I sould consider. 400 block .040 over, with a 440 crank and rods. The heads are the ProComp Edelbrock knock offs. 72 cc is what they are advertised as for the chambers. I haven't decided on a cam yet. It will be either a hydrolic flat tappet or a small roller cam. Probably around .525 lift. I'm looking at 2 of the china GT45's on ebay for the turbos. Turning the motor 6000 to 6500 rpm with a blow thru carb. Only looking for about 10 psi of boost for now.
My question is about the compression on the street. Should I go with flat top or dished pistons? How much compression is Ok using premium gas?

These are the heads I won. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230648790666&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT

my guess is youre gonna need a dished piston and probably a thick head gasket if you want room to up the boost. With those heads having a fairly small combustion chamber with a flat top piston youll probably be right close to 10-1 with a standard head gasket. I would try to get compression down to 9-1or less to make it boosted pump gas friendly.

That would be pretty much a stock cam idle and vac. I would look for something in the 230-235* range @.050". That 452 needs to be able to break to make it to 6000.
