Looking at taking my eaton 2001 cobra and putting a 67mm turbo on it. I want to hit 610-620 on pump gas and still have good spool time. Thinking about using a .68 exhaust but i think it will limit my power and i wont be able to hit my goal. If i use a .81 exhaust, ill probably go with a BB tubo so it will spool fast. A few years ago I ran a precision T70 GTQ with a .81 exhaust on a built 2v and it made good power but lagged BAD. It started making boost around 3500 and had full boost at 4700. It was fun but just not responsive enough on the streets where i spend 99% of my time. My car will be built and possibly a stroker kit to help spool it up. Other than that it will have the stock intake, stock heads, and stock cams.. Will it hit the numbers i want on say 17-18 psi.

Are you leaving the eaton on it and doing a compound setup or taking the eaton off and just running the turbo, ?

No. id sell the eaton stuff. Im looking to be in the 610-620 whp with equal or better torque. That is a minimum. Id hope to get more but i want those kind of numbers so i can justify the switch from a blower to turbo. A lot of people have to me to just put a whipple on it and be done but i dont want to spend tons on a whipple only to end up in the upper 500's. ive seen a lot of people try for 600 with a whipple and come up short or have to run 19--20 psi on pump gas with a tune thats on the ragged edge. I want to be there but i want to be there easily. not on the ragged edge..

    A PRecision 6769S with a .68 a/r will take care of it

yes, but they spool about the same.

I use to run two of these before moving up to the twin 76's

What about the precision billet 67mm 6768 hpq. Supposedly its rated at 935 hp. It looks like it might fit what im doing. Anyone know of anyone using this turbo and the results.

I just bought one. .81 ex because I am running an automatic. I also got the H-cover. Hopefully I went the right direction! :bang:

I think its the turbo im going to go with as well. Its supposed to outpower the old T76 GTS with a faster spool but id like to see one or 2 in operation before i pull the trigger. I too will probably go with the .81 housing so i dont choke off power production. I just hope its not to lazy on the streets with my 5-speed.

I will be a running a 6768 billet Presicion with a Hcover and .96AR but I have an auto and forward facing manifolds to help spool.

Question about your old car that lagged with the built motor... What was it's compression ratio, and are you planning to run the same cp on the cobra?

I was at 9.2:1 on the old motor and it just felt lazy on the streets. when the turbo was spooled it was fun. I didnt have forward facing headers though and was still on the factory manifolds. Im going to try and keep the compression around the same on this motor.. At least in the 8.8 to 9.2:1 range. I want a fast spool and still make over 600. If not, ill just go whipple 2.9

Might have been tune related. I had twin 57's on a 9:1 motor and the power always came on QUICK. That was with a auto trans though.

I would try going higher with the compression so that it pulls hard before the boost comes in. Like 9.5:1 or higher.

An auto car will always feel quicker than a manual. Mod motor turbo cars love auto's. I just dont want to go auto. My three top ideas are 2.9 whipple, twin 50's, or a precision 6768 billet wheel. The Whipple will probably do 620@19 psi, the twins 675@17, not to sure about the 67 turbo.
