Awesome car! My buddy Steve Berg who sells the Wrench Rat turbo kits has one of those. His is a 351W twin turbo and he first started with the manual transmission with the layover shifter like you have. Kept having issues shifting it without hanging up and eventually went with a Lentech AOD. With 3.25 gears, a loose as hell converter and Hoosier drag radials it went 9.13@154 mph!
We soon figured out that 3.25 was overgeared and the RPM was nudging 7000 rpm thru the traps. The track pretty much banned the thing from ever running the full 1/4 mile anymore but now its sporting 2.75's and a much better converter. Ive ridden in a few 1/8 mile runs and it would be easily in the 8's with less gear. Best WHP number on that car thru a loose converter was 820. You have an EASY 8 second car if you could ever put it all to the ground!

Is that a local spokane car. Does he take it to any car shows. I'd love to see one like this. There are a few really nice ones around here, but none boosted. Ones an original with the 427 though. Very nice.

Absolutely crazy build, wow. Proof that there is no such thing as overkill. :D

Thanks for posting up the pics and info. How was the build of the kit? I've been eyeing that FFR 33 Hot Rod for a while now, I'd love to do a twin turbo 5.0 mod motor in one. :)

I want to say it said 2270 in there somewhere...

    Car is awesome. BAAAD APPLES.
Id love one with twins to keep the exhaust seperate, although yours sounds GREAT on the dyno. You need to put up in car and drive by vids. I'll be looking for it in MM & FF. Good job!

Re: My Factory Five Turbo 408 Cobra replica build

I have been down the 1/8 mile 3 times over 2 visits to the track, the fist time I went leaving the line slow like it was a stop light and I ran 6.35 at 119mph and the car was just starting to make the boost, so after a little cool down I went back to the starting line and was told I needed a race jacket, I borrowed one from a racer at the track then I pulled up to the line as it started raining. JUST MY LUCK!!! The next time back I turned down the boost to about 715rwhp from around 760rwhp to slow down a little so I could get a little more practice launching the car before I let all the power loose, well I launched with just a little more rpm and the intercooler pipe came off just before the 1/8 mile mark and I ran a 6.28 at 119mph after that the track said I needed a full roll bar before I could run again. I have not had a chance to let it all hang out for one good run. One day I will get my chance!!!

digitalsolo, the FFR kit is not hard to build, what took me so long was saving up money to build it right and have only 3 full days a month to work on it for the first 2 years with a new baby at home. FFR makes a very strong frame and you can always get help with the build and www.ffcars.com , just ask a question and in no time a hand full of people will have the answer you need and alot of the time with pictures of the way it should done. Maybe I need to build a FFR 33 Hot Rod with a rocket engine and I can name it Extreme OverKill !!!!

So did you have to do any suspension adjustments or did you have the car set up by a chassis shop and how much weight do you think you added to the rear half of the car with the roll bar and meth tank? I worked on one of those cars with a 521 Ford crate engine that was rated at 600 hp. That think would not come close to hooking up in any gear I tried. I would wheel hop, smoke the tires very hard while sliding all over two lanes, both doors would pop open and then the engine would get into it's power band and rev extremely fast for a big block, almost liike I had it out of gear and the pedal on the floor, because the engine would then run away from the clutch. That car was crazy, I was trying to tune it but was not able to do much with all the wheel hop, tire spin and clutch slippage.
Right now I have another one in the shop with a very mild 5.0, I am going to install a Vortech S trim on it and tune it. It's a buddies car, if there is any tricks to getting those things to hook I would sure like to know before I get this one finnished, I don't want it turning out like the last one, that one was a joke. Both cars are Factory Five cars. The other car that I worked on had 18" Halibrand copies, they looked good, your car looks great, the car I am working one now has Cobra R copies on it, they just don't look right at all on that car.

love your build, those cars are excellent platforms for serious power! if you're ever in south florida with it theres a twin turbo FFR cobra with 352" ford motor that wants a piece.
