Nitrous to twin turbo refit. The need for more speed!

    I decided to ditch the bottle and put twin turbos on this thing. My best pass on the bottle was 5.49 @ 128 (1/8) and 8.58 @ 157 (1/4) Best 60' was 1.24 and my best MPH was 159.

    Here's the passes from the AFSC race last night. (First race with this car and my first race in about 25 years!)

    First pass off the trailer with my new chassis tuning to prevent wheelies. No wheelie, 1.24 60', cut a .069 light, ran a 8.60

    This pass is the first pass of eliminations. Cut a .076 light, ran a 8.61

    This pass is the second round of eliminations. Cut a .084 light and never saw the guy so I let off the button before the end. (stupid) Ran a 5.49 @128.42 (1/8) And 8.58 @ 157.23 (1/4) and he went by me at the stripe... Beat me by a tenth!

    First pic is how it looked on Monday. Second pic is how it looks today. My junker block and heads are in place for mock up and headers and turbo placement will start soon. I've never built a twin turbo before, so I have a lot to figure out... Wish me luck!

    Wow, didn't you just build that nitrous setup? Shame to see it go, but based on the job you did on that thing I'm betting its safe to say this twin setup is going to be flat out nasty. Can't wait to see it!! :cheers:

    Thanks, guys. I had a lot of fun with the nitrous set up, but after my first race with it I knew I'd have to push it even harder to be competitive. So that would mean a block change and I was planning doing that over the summer break and putting on the turbos... So here we are, just a month earlier than planned. (And I'll need as much time as possible if I plan on having it ready for September)

    I also wanted something I could drive around on pump gas. That was not possible with the 12:1 nitrous motor. With the turbo setup, I can have a two programs in the ECU. One for race mode and one for street mode. I'd love to "drive" this thing to the track on pump gas, then switch to race gas and run a sub 7 second pass...Then drive it back home. That's the goal anyway and we all know talk is cheap... Only time will prove me a hero or a zero. :D

    It's been a while since I updated this thread. I decided to go with a single, not twins, but it should have plenty of pep. I'm doing all the wiring and plumbing right now... In another month or so and it will be ready to fire.

    I also decided to make this a track only car... It's a little too radical. I'm building another Coupe for the street.
