Ill have video up soon of tonights carnage. I made one run and stood it on the bumper, got chicken and let off too much, crashed the front end to the pavement HARD, knocked off the rearview mirror, the horn button fell out of the steering wheel, parts of the dash fell apart, bent the frame rails, scraped the oil pan, bent the tubular k member, bent the passenger strut adjuster hat, chipped paint off both fenders that now hit the doors and the motor dropped about a half inch lower in the engine compartment.

Fun as hell but now it needs a date with a frame rack to make things right. Woot woot! :chacha:

This is not the update I was expecting, what has changed making it hook so hard? Hope it was fun, you have a long Northwest winter to get it shined up again......and maybe some front end limiters!

Our new concrete launch pad and simply hitting it harder is all it took to put the front end into the air! Im new at this wheelie stuff and when all i could see out of the windshield was the sky, it freaked me out and i lifted a tad too much. Those guys that ride 300 ft long wheelies must have gigantic balls because i have NO IDEA how to judge car position or if its gonna land on a guardrail and crash.

What a hoot though! Once you realize your car can launch like that, you want to do it EVERY time. I put it on the hoist today and the damage isnt too bad. The frame rails in front of the k member actually bent down from the weight of the radiator and intercooler which rocked the steering linkage into the k member.
K mamber is pretty much ok but the Moroso solid mounts squished into the engine block mount pads and its lucky the ears didnt get broke off the block. The frame guy stopped by and said for around 250 clams he could push the rails back up and re-fit the fender gaps.

Saw the vid, bad ass! Glad the damage is not too bad. May be time to limit the front suspension some. The car does seem to go really strait in the last couple of vids though with the wheels in the air.

It does do surprisingly well staying on course. I think i need a pilots license if im gonna do anymore stunts like that. I used my hoist tonight and strapped the K member to the hoist base and put 2 tons on the rails and ill be damned if it didnt straighten right out! Thats some McGyver shit right there boys!
All the door and hood gaps are back in line and now i just gotta replace the crushed motor mounts and im all set for some NORMAL non abusive street cruising to give the poor thing a break. :2thumbs:

Did you get air miles for that launch?

The trick to driving through a wheelie is to look out the side window at the guardrail. If staying about the same distance away - its all good. If its moving towards or away from you - drop back to 3/4 throttle and nail it again on the way down to soften the landing. Time for some front frame saver bars and front suspension limiters!

You are right on the money! I realized the windshield is useless at that point and your equilibrium goes haywire without any reference point to whats happening. Im gonna add a few bars forward off the K member to stiffen the front portion of the rails so they stay put and do it again next year! :chacha: :chacha: :chacha:

Boy i dunno. It looks like garden variety crap to me. :D Its still in really good shape and a set of rings and bearings plus a crank polish would make it better than it ever was. Main cap fret marks and slightly rough main journals are about the extent of damage from all the hell i put it through. :2thumbs:
