Okay, The car is a 99 Cobra with a spun bearing but a bunch of supporting hardware for everything but engine. Full MMR Tubular front end coil over k-member etc. etc. and a Cobra R hood.
I also have a 98/99 Navi 5.4 DOHC *with scarred cyl walls* (core engine), a welder, a couple 3.8sc superchargers, bunch of nitrous, access to a mitsubitchi lazer CNC machine, powder coating and some other random goodness.
I'm looking for at least 550HP with room to grow in the future.
I know it sounds ricey, but I'd love to have some nice ahh factor when the hood is up.

What I dont want is to have to retune or mess with the computer system (yet)
I dont want to be sitting on a complete time bomb, (got blown up too many times haha)

My Budget is around 4500ish into the engine. all work will be done *myself* except block and head head machining.

From the research I've done, I seems right to use the Navi heads, maybe the cams as the cams are the same on all DOHC 4.6 and 5.4 correct?
    Are head studs worth it?
Anybody hear of an Individual Throttle body Setup on this maybe?
What would be a good comp ratio for a non boosted engine, but maybe spraying a little or or boosting later on.

As we can see I'm just sort off a little behind the curve and would appreciate some help.

I just wanna buy some of these parts once, because I never get away with a small bill from MMR haha.

And heres a link to some pictures for those who care

    1- depends on the year
2- yes, they are worth it
3-yes, intake elbow .com ,but why?
4- on a 4 valve 5.4 go with flat top pistons, it will be all right... :2thumbs:

1st. I use to live in EPT and I must say to leave THR alone.

2nd. If you are looking for used parts and stuff 4500 goes a long way. If you want all new stuff 4500 doesn't do much in the modular world from my experience.

3rd. Since your goal is only 550hp I would say just Lightning or Nav crank, which ever one is forged. They aren't expensive at all. If your block can be bored .020 I would say use that and get some forged rods and pistons. The head studs, main studs, bearings, gaskets, replacement of TTY bolts can get pricey but are well within your budget. Not sure if cobra cams are better or what. Gasket match your heads and put a little spray on it. You will have money left over.

4th. Wait for someone with more experience than me to chime in and do whatever they say lol. This is just my 2 cents but I am a noob in the modular world

oh haha, forgot to update my profile I left EPT in oct. and I know what your saying :p.
99 Cobra heads vs 99 Navi heads
I'm not scared of using some used parts
And I have played with some ITB cars (buddies toyota, my RB26dett, and a few others and its just fun and well its something I'd like no specific reason Really)

I guess one thing that kinda got me some is looking at MMRs site and seeing a ton of goodies, but what all do I really NEED, as I'm not shooting to ever make anything over 800 HP on this setup. Like I said 550hp now, but room to grow later with additinal mods, but not having to redo the engine again.

ON a 5.4L go with the Navi heads, the intake ports are bigger than the 99's...

I was watching Muscle Car on Spike's Power block and they had Saun Hyland Motorsports build a DOHC 4.6 with independent throttle bodies. In my opinion I would go with studs now if you are thinking of boosting or spraying it in the future. Just my $.02 though.

Got my new set of cams from MMR, YAY. And I decided to go with there upper manifold for the navi intake, because for the price you just cant go wrong.
Would it be acceptable to use the timing set that came off the Navi engine or not? I'm not trying to cut corners but maybe save a couple bucks. :stupid:
Project is on hold for a minute though due to job issues. :bang:

If you are going to use the old timing set you can order the plastic for the guides pretty cheaply and just replace those. That is what I like to do on the motors that I build and have not had an issue at all.

The individual throttle body setup goes for about 4 grand, thats what Sean Hylands gets for his anyway. That would leave you about 500 for the rest of your build. They are mainley used for road race setups anyway.
