Which primary tensioner for high HP engine 4.6

    What primary tensioner are you guys using for high hp drag racing 4.6 engines. I was reading in the SHM book that the ratcheting mechanism should be removed and a shim installed in the tensioner. Has anyone done this and if so what is the size of the shim need to be. When i took apart my heads i did see some signs on the front cam journal like he says in the book from using the ratcheting tenioner.

    we use stock OEM in all our motors

    I also prefer the steel un-modified tensioner (pictured) over the plastic one. Never had an issue with the ratcheting mechanism.

    No doubt, thays why i asked. What do you guys use in your race motors?

    Also on the teksid block what are you using for a pivot dowel for the chain guide, the ford screw-in stud or do your make something stronger?

    How much for the stud? As for the tensioner i was thinking of removing some of the teeth so it cant lock out fully, what do you think? I will be ordering the teksid side bolt kit later on today or tomorrow so let me know about the 8mm studs so i can get both at the same time.
