Okay, got an 03 f250 powerstroke and from arizona. Driving across country and in AZ NM and CO I was getting 21 mpg but as soon as I got into south dakota it dropped to 16, why is this? Different diesel grade? I've been through three takes and all been the same?

Maybe diesel in South Dakota is processed in kilometers

Don't think I've heard of diesel having blend variants but plausible. My heap of shit van would drop about 3mpg and noticeably in performance when running gas that was from around Joliet.

I have noticed that the higher the cetane rating the better the fuel mileage in diesels. We notice a few mpg difference in the stuff when taking long trips in my fathers 01' F-250 PSD.

It could be something as simple as the weather or even how fast you're going. I dont' mind AZ, CO and NM that much, but I'd want to haul ass through SD Too.

Was it just one tank? could it have just been some bad diesel, was it number 1? was could something have went wrong with the truck? and what part of SD, if you were west river it could have been from all hills compared to the east river flatness :noidea:
