It was suggested that I post this project on the "Builds Board". I fabricate a little at a time. I work out of town, so it goes slow. This may take me another year to finish, but I thought I'd start the thread now.

The car is a fiberglass 32 Ford Coupe. I have a close friend builds hot rods and I purchased the body from Root's UnReal Rod's of Gulf Breeze, Florida. It was already chopped and we cut the body in half and widened it 8". We also lengthened and widened the grill shell 4". The frame rails are from a '34 ford truck. I stretched the rails 12" and fabed the frame from 1 x 2 and 2 x 3 box steel. I pro-streeted the rear and have a narrowed 8.8 rear end from an Explorer. We took two explorer rear ends, and pulled the short tube from one and the long tube from the other to make one 56" wide rear (Thanks Root). The rear end has 3.73 gears, trac lock, 31 spline axles, and 30" tall tires. There is a Competition Engineering 4 link rear suspension. I welded on '32 frame horns, so it would look like a '32. There is a full cage.

The front suspension is my own design. It is an independent front suspension made from circle track parts and Mustang II spindles. Instead of the standard drag link that bolts to the lower arm, I used Hair pins so it would look like a '32. The geometry is correct and there is no bump steer. There is 8" of travel, but it will probably only move 3 to 4 inches. The power steering rack is from an '88 T-bird and mates to the power steering pump.

The engine is from a 2003 Mach 1 (5 speed, steel crank, aluminum block). The trans is a 4R75W out of a Ford truck. My friend, Jeb, was a Ford mechanic. Whenever a warranty claim is made, they throw away the old parts. This transmission was brand new, but had a bad accumulator spring. Jeb, offered to repair it, but the customer insisted it be replaced. Score one for the hot rodders.

The intercooler is a ebay special, $120. The core is 3.5" x 12" x 18". It is mounted horizontal, but has a large scoop under it that doesn't show in the photos. Air flows under the radiator and above the steering rack into the scoop. The hole in the grille shell isn't cut yet.

The turbos are GT2876R's. I wanted GT3076R's but they were backordered. The maps are almost identical. The 30's can make about 50 hp more at maximum, but the 28's are good for 800 hp. The have Tial stainless turbine housings (.68). They were only $100 more than the iron T3 housings. I fabed the headers from 1 5/8" stainless tube. The waste gates are Tial MVS.

The engine is 10.1 compression and the engine has stock rods and pistons, and the trans is stock, so initially I will limit it to 7# boost. I figure about 500 fwhp. The wiring harness was a cut and paste. I have 63# injectors and am using a Megasquirt and EDIS-8 to run the engine.

Another hot rodder Tim sold me the entire drivetrain from a 97 Lincoln Mark VIII. My future plans include a forged rotating assembly in a the teksid block (about 9:1). Then I'll beef up the transmission and turn up boost. I think the '32 will weigh in about 2300 lbs. and it will probably go 10's.

In July I'll get help at the shop and we will install the doors and a/c. I think it will take me about another year to finish, but if you are patient I'll be happy to keep posting the progress.

Wow! Look at all that room for the turbos! Interested to see how the two turbos will run to get to the inlet of the IC...

That's cool man. My dad has a '29 that we're going to build up one of these years. I'm pretty sure I've talked him into a twin setup with a blow through carb. Keep us updated with your build. I'm sure a lot of people are going to be interested. :2thumbs:

SWEET! I noticed it has a trailer hitch...what is the towing capacity going to be...do you think it would tow a 4000 lb Donzi Speedboat?

this is a badass built. My dad has a 29 sport coupe that I'm trying to get him to throw in a 5.9Lcummins! But we will probably just use an old 383 we have laying around- hopefully we will boost it. keep up the good work :2thumbs:

    New pics of 32 Coupe

Just thought I'd update the build. I fabricated the cold side and the downpipes. We installed the air conditioning. There is a new fiberglass hood, and the trunk is complete. The doors are next, then we will take the body off and I'll compete the brakes and exhaust. Thanks in advance for your kind comments.

I love this build. How do you like those tial turbines? I've always wondered why more people don't use them. They really aren't that crazy expensive.

I'm surprised you didn't go with the sheet metal upper made for that engine. Awesome build, finally a Ford with a ford engine in it

My car is also around 2,300 pounds, with the power from the turbos it will be a blast to drive. Get some good drag radials so you can put it all to the ground. Good luck with your project.
