So I'm new to the turbo world and have a question. I have a quadrajet carb on my 71 nova. Its a 350, RPM intake and a cam. I picked up a "turbo Kit" On craigslist for 500 bucks. It came with a manifold, carb top hat, wastegate and a blow off valve. I need to fab up a downpipe and a cross pipe. The turbo is a T04B 70 trim with a 1.0 A/R. I sent it off to be rebuilt and will be getting it back soon. My plan was to run 8lbs of boost or less. Also the motor has not been rebuilt but runs awesome and does not smoke. Right now it runs 13.7's in the quarter at 98MPH.

My question is will the quadrajet hold up with that boost. It was rebuilt not to long ago, I picked this kit up cheap so I'm not looking for insane amounts of power just something to cruise around in. I will prob only run the carb for the summer then get a "blow through" in the winter when i have more funds.

I've done my reading and talked to a few turbo guys and I am pretty confident with my set up besides the carb. That's really my weak point right now.

Thanks in advance for any info. :2thumbs:

youll thank yourself later by going holley right now. qjet's are great carbs... maybe even in a draw through system but the smallish need and seat and tiny fuel bowl just wont cut it. a stock holley would be better with that boost. its real easy to start in the turbo world with "smallish" intentions.... next thing you know in a year your making power to propel the average car into the single digits!

x2 Holleys have tons of adjustments that can be done to make a blow thru car run great. I had the same intentions..."oh Ill just want to run 5-7psi", 3 months later Im pushing 13psi. Save yourself time and money and get a Holley thatll serve your needs for a long time.

    Just a FYI,
Here's an old kit made for Pontiacs that used the stock Q-jet in a blow-thru system.

They can work but with so much R/D with Holleys these days, a quadrajet is not your best choice.
I use a pair of Q-jets for my twin draw-thru and they work excellent.
