I have an eboost2 and was wondering about the boost by gear feature. Mine is not setup that way and was wondering how it works. I also converted from an m5 to a 4r70w with a manual valve body.

The yellow wire is for the RPM signal from ECU or the negative wire of a ignition coil.

    External Set Point Switching
The e-Boost has three different boost set points. These can be triggered internally, via the up / down arrows, or externally by grounding or
earthing the green and or orange wires to the chassis.
The external set points are selected by earthing the appropriate wire corresponding with the set point you wish to select, see the table below for detail. The e-Boost is factory set for internal set point switching.

To configure the e-boost for external set point trigger enter the user parameter menu, then scroll to the ISP parameter. Press and hold the
Mode button for two seconds, press the up or down arrows to change between ISP and ESP. Press the Mode button momentarily and the
selection will be stored. Press the Mode button again to return to Live Mode.

I would love to know this as well... I have been using the EBoost 2 for a while now.. killer piece.. but never used the Boost by gear function.. I heard you have to run some sort of switch on the shifter.. and run it to the auxiliary outputs so it grounds itself in different gears.. something like that'¦. :bang:

You can trigger differnt stages by earthing the inputs. It all depends on what kind of trans you have to come up with a way to do it.

To truely do boost by gear you need to do one of the following -

1 - program for sequential switching and connect a switch to the clutch pedal that will earth one of the input wires every time the clutch in pressed
2 - If you have an electronically controls trans, program an output on the trans (typically 12v) to trip a relay that grounds one of the EB2 inputs
3 - install a few micro-switches on the shifter that will ground as each gear is pulled
    ETC

By earthing the two input wires (in various ways) there are 4 stages of boost available. By using sequential switching, there are 6 stages of boost control available b y earthing just one of the input wires and the other input is used as a re-set.

I was planning on trying version 3 myself. I have a six speed manual so hopefully I can make it work.

Do you have any pics and what micoswitch did you use? It's good to know someone's done this and it worked. If you want you can email me the info:

    Great thread guys.

Anyone want to walk a new eBoost2 user through simply setting it up? I have NO idea how to set it up and obviously don't want to blow up the car.

I'm looking to get it tuned in the next two weeks, so it's about that time.

I'd like to set it to 14-15 pounds, with the overboost dump set at 16-17 PSI. (I understand it's got to be set at 2psi more than where you have your max boost set, in case the car starts boosting like crazy.)

Any and all advise would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks guys,
    Alan

Alan, the eboost runs off duty cycle of the solenoids. So, at a setting of zero would be running off of gate spring pressure only. So, setting if at 15 will not equal 15psi. You have to creep up on it to find out what setting equals what boost. On my car a setting of 85 equals about 24psi with a 9# spring in the gate. And a setting of 35 equals about 13psi. Just increase the setting by 5 and see what type of increase you get until your desired boost level. Do not mess with the gate pressure settingor sensitivity levels until you find out what Boost setting you need, as they can alter the max boost. I do not mess with the sensitivity as i have tried and it caused erratic boost readings. Also, the gate pressure setting can be useful, I set mine to open 2psi before my desired boost level. It brings boost on much quicker, actually too quick and I need to decrease it. You can give it a try once you have the boost setting set, but be careful as it can also cause a boost spike by opening the gate too late. If you have any more questions let me know.

The eboost is a awesome piece, but I have found it to be highly inaccurate when used for a boost gauge, i sometimes get a 3psi (higher) reading from the eboost compared to my xfi log from a run. I go by what the xfi picks up as that is what I tune from.

That OBS is too close to what you want to run. I like about a 5 pound+ spread.
