Yeah, with the right gears, tires, and driver. You could probably do it with 500hp.

That would get you in to the 9's as long as it wasn't 2 tons

We had a notch going 9.50s with 550 hp at the tire through a c4.

Even though your car will be heavier, if you can't get into the 9's(if you wanted to) you're doing something wrong.

Just reinforcing what the others have already said. Unless the car is a boat you don't need 600 rwhp to get into tens... or nines for that matter. It's all suspension, weight and driving.

    Thanks,

    Ed

Re: The lightweight thing, we have a customer car with 650rwhp @ 3790lbs that went 10.1 @ 134mph. '70 Chevelle, 454HO, AFR 315CNC's, CSU 850, CC custom low-.600's solid roller shifter @5800rpm, YSi @11psi, TH400/ PTC 3400 stall, 3.50 gears. Suspension consists of QA1's at all four corners, Alston tubular rear arms top/bottom, tubular front control arms top/bottom and not much else. Car can be driven just about anywhere, Drag Week, etc. Good luck with your project!

Unless it's a pig, you could do that with under 500whp.

600hp should get you into the 10's in most cars except a Supra or 03-04 Cobra. Then you're stuck in the 12's.

I had 580hp to the tires and went easily 10.80's with a full interior, 5 speed, 17" wheels up front and a tiny 26x8.5" 4 year old slick in the back.

That's hilarious!! Reminds me of that Motivational Poster with the Supra that mentions it having 1200hp and suckin' eggs.

20" rims that weight 200 pounds per wheel will do that to you.

Well, that and the zero traction that also comes with it.
