I have a question, do you guys think getting the new 2v TFS heads are worth it for 2k? gonna be used on my 5.0l stroker, single 70mm turbo 6 speed car. i know they are all re designed, the one main thing i like about the new TFS is the added spark plug threads. I am scared of spark blow out now.

I also will have a possible deal on a set of used livernois heads, dunno what stage yet, or all the details. Does livernois send their heads out with upgraded spark plug threads?

what do you guys think? flow numbers? plug threads? The TFS heads have not been out long and havnt really been tested on a turbo car yet.. opinions?

Back in the day with a set of Patriot 2 valve heads & comp camp 270's from summit my car lay down 702rwhp with a Pro Charger F1c , the belt was sliping . Back then I pay for them 1k new.
After I got the head from summit ,I took them to a machine shop to replace the valve guides before I put them on the car. They had issues.
I never had any issues with them after that what so ever
I can only imagine what can it do with a 76GTS...

ps# If I were you I will contact Mark at MMR & tell him to hook you up with a set of their 2 valve stage III heads[ftp][/ftp]

    No IMOP
I will just get stock OEM CNC ported & bigger valves with comp cams springs
Most machine shops will install helicoils for you.

If a single T70 turbo is going to meet your hp goals, then I'd say they're not worth it. For that matter, you could probably just have a set of stockers cleaned up with some nice SS valves and good valve springs. Turbo specific cams is the best bang for the buck IMO.

I had patriot heads na and they flowed well and a lot less than 2k. I also just recently realized that if I look for the right deal I can swap to 4v and after everything should be less than $1,500 including intake, heads, timing cover, valve covers, etc.. Just bought clean 03 cobra heads completely assembled that came with valve covers for $650. After being on this forum so much I've been turned to the 4v side I guess.

If you already have 2 valve PI heads and your running a Turbo send your out and have them done. I dont think with Forced Induction you will see much difference. I have Patriot Stage 3 and a T76 BB. I only went with them because i didnt have heads to start with.

Isnt it like 1500 for a shop like livernois to port mine? thats seems like its not worth it when i could spend another 500 and get new designed tfs heads, replaceable came journals, comes with new valves, springs, replaceable came journals... ect.

whatever you do, make sure you get the rite springs in there the first time. need a seat pressure between 120-130 for over 10pounds of boost. this is the one thing i didn't know when i dove into my build and you never hear about till after the issues begin. also i've heard the diamond turbo cams work extremely well on the 2v heads. let us know what you do and how your combo worked out! :2thumbs:

And if you already have a built shortblock with valve reliefs for the oem head design, then won't you need new pistons to accept the redesigned tfs heads? I think I would rather spend the $1200 on the patriots or mmr port work, then the other $800 on a master power t-76.
4valve isn't bad, but the exhaust ports are different than the 2v, so that means a new hotside.

shouldnt the tfs heads work fine with any combo? i still have to order pistons, but isnt the valve reliefs the same?

DSS is offering pistons with different valve reliefs to work with the tfs heads. Also if the intake valve is in a different location and angle then wouldn't it "hit" the piston in a different location other than the stock oem valve?

You should be able to get your heads ported for less than 1500. I know the Patriot heads are 1300-1400.

My car will be coming out this week for a 500 mile break in then it is on the dyno for its tune.
GL let us know what you do.

Well if the TFS Mod heads are like the old 302/351 twisted wedge heads you can run them with out special pistons BUT you are limited to a certain lift and duration. I am not too familiar with the new TFS mod heads so this is only an guess.

Did you ever mention just how much power your looking for, and at what RPM do you plan to rev it to?

Unless I missed it, and it's already posted... If your looking for 700 horse and under, the stock type 2v head ( ported, valves, guides, springs, seals, etc) will get it done, with the right supporting parts. Above that range, the 4V starts looking like a more cost effective alternative.
