anyone know a source for a 3/8 ck valve-my power brakes are a little weak with the new engine, so i might raid the junkyard for a vacume pump, tee it in to the hose to the powerbrakes, but leave hooked up to the engine with a ck valve so the vacume from the pump doesnt go back in the engine-looking for some kind of universal one with 3/8 hose conn on both ends

thanks Oldhead, i was going to try a tank first, def dont like the elect pump, had one on another car, didnt like it, but dont know if the tank would really help that much, but since i have one gonna try it anyway-might even use hydro boost, since i have p/s-i kind of though maybe an elect pump with a storage tank might cut some of the running,
a cold winter for sure, so plenty of time to try stuff, lol-i have 13" of vac at an idle, thought that would be enough, but doesnt seem to be

I have found that below 8" of vacuum the brakes stink, above 9" there good...If you bought a tank they are small 5" round,7"high....The one I am telling you how to make is 4" round, 36 to 48" long.....Size does matter :)OldheadPS: Just think about having one 48" long

I was going to do this a while back ............... Was told it could be done on the cheap with a junk yard piece . I never pursued it , but it could be just the ticket for you :2thumbs:

i bought the alumn. adapter bracket a while back made for a chevelle, prob pick up a hydroboost off an astro van for around $75, then just the price of hoses and ends, so i can do it cheap, i'll see what i end up with

I have a hydroboost PS pump on my truck. I am using Vacuum assist(95 silverado brakes). If you have a non-hydro PS pump maybe we could figure something out..but I wouldn't touch mine till spring

Not to barge in but I don't think pumps are different except for maybe 2 returns, but is not necessary as long as you T in p/s and hydroboost before pump, early ford hydroboost had a unique pump but later just used same pump with a T.

I used a check valve out of a 90 honda civic brake booster line. It's a perfect 3/8 barb on both ends, worked great and it was free!
