I will try the next time something out of the ordinary comes up. Believe we are going to make some plates for a promod nitrous motorcycle pretty soon. Not sure when we are going to start on it. Couple other projects in the works as well. I have to be careful what I post, don't wanna get in trouble for it.

The ZR1 is on the way back to our shop as we speak, so I will get some pictures of it when it gets here. Ended up making ok power. We have small jets in the nitrous kit so it could make a lot more power than it does. But, we would rather not make LS9 soup so it will probably stay where it is. For now anyway. It too is going over seas to the same place as all the manifolds are going.

My boss and I think the v6 is going to have issues because the lack of balancing as well as the weight of the pistons that are going to be in the thing. They are huge. I have one in my toolbox, will get a picture and post it.

I'm not sure how the classes work in this form of racing. I know we made several inline manifolds like the one in the pic on the previous page. They are also for the same type racing, but are obviously nitrous manifolds, not forced induction like the v6. Those inline 6 manifolds are the only aftermarket manifolds ever made for engines they are for, or so I was told.

The cost on the v6 was just a guess. I really have no idea what it would cost. Can find out though. Fairly sure $15k would be the minimum. Standard 3 and 4 stage 5.2-5.3 bore spaced manifold that has everything on it including throttle linkage and such, is between 12/15 grand. Sometimes more or less depending what all the customer wants done.

Anyway, cool stuff. I enjoy out of the ordinary. Hope another good one comes up soon.
Thanks for all the kind words guys.

Don't want to just swing but I have to say you and your team made something that words can't describe and definitely deserve all the accolades you're receiving and then some. Thank you very much for sharing, I look forward to seeing more of your projects.

I would have guessed that the engine would be worth atleast double that. Can't wait to hear some numbers and if she blows.

I think the $15k was the intake. Earlier in the thread wasn't the guess at $100k+ for the engine?

Don't mean to pry, but what do you mean lack of balancing?

I think he means that it will be impossible to internally balance the motor and it's not naturally balanced. 5.3" bore will make for a VERY heavy piston and without a ton of room in the bottom end for huge counterweights, it won't balance out.

    Just a guess though.....

absolutely amazing but do you think those cylinder walls will hold? the outer 2 cylinders are sittin pretty damn close to the inner one...not a lot of cylinder wall in between them
but best of luck lets see some numbers

I know I said it before, and I do NOT think they will........but I would treat this engine like a diesel and keep it low RPM. The torque will be there provided it work correctly.

    Just my .02

It will scatter just like all of the other ones do. If I was limited to a class that only did V6s, but allowed turbos, I'd have a Stage II Buick or odd-fire 4.3L in it.

What about one of those huge GMC V6es from back in the day? They were up to 478 CID. Peak HP was at 3400 RPM, but still that was with 60s technology. Make a modern set of heads for it, throw a nice rotating assembly in it (that is significantly lighter than stock) and you have a very interesting engine I imagine.

We build billet manifolds. Not just nitrous parts. Also the owner of the engine is part owner in Speedtech as well as the race team. He gets what he wants usually, whether we like it or not.

I don't really know anything about the racing this is being built for. Couldn't say if it is still going on or not.

Disney got it right about the balancing. That is how I understood it anyway.

And yes, just the manifold would be around 15k or so. Asked the boss today what the cost would be and he told me a minimum of 15k prob closer to 20k. If there was a nitrous system installed as well, it would be considerably more. Would hate to guess what the whole engine/heads/intake would cost complete. Willing to bet it's 100k or better. This is a one off setup.
The big v8 engines in our cars are basically 100k complete and they are kinda standard. The v6 is custom billet cnc block and billet cnc hemi heads.
I was told the head engine builder at Alan Johnson's shop wanted to take our manifold to his house and put it on his coffee table. lol
Made us feel good knowing they thought it was well built. Don't think they were expecting it. We were told they want 3 more just like it. Now that we know what it takes and have all the cnc programs written, it shouldn't take anywhere near as long to build another one.

No ... sorry... you can't............ they would like to 8)............ but they just can't............Cuz if they did we would all shuck our 8 cylinder junk and go that way. Remember the guy that said he could make a motor run on water ??? Where is he now ???

    Haha!

You know I've asked a ton of times what ever happened to that engine and for some reason, no one knows. LOL Kinda sucks, we worked hard on all that stuff. Fucking thing ended up selling for almost 20 grand. Nuts.

    Edit:
I will see if I can find out something on it.
