Sorry about no updates guys. Haven't had much time to work on the car, too much other work to do. Today I finished the throttle cable, fabbed a bracket for the cable , tacked one side of the IC piping together, finished the fuel lines, and installed the vacuum hard line for the modulator on the trans. The driveshaft is in now and the transmission linkage is finished. I still need to get some 3" bends so I can fab my downpipes, but it's VERY close to being finished. More to come soon.

so how to plugs/plug wires clear on those ebay turbo headers with the 40p heads??

did you have to massage the tubes any or use shortie plugs or 90* boots?

I used Accel 8mm wires, they have 45* boots on the wires. I think I may have to go to a longer wire when I get my accessories bolted up, however. I'm running fiberglass heat shield boots over the plug wire boots at any rate.

I've had so many setbacks it's not even been funny haha. Too much family stuff, and too many customer cars that need finishing to be able to spent a lot of time on it.
Today, I cut a square out of the top of the fuel tank, welded a rod to it and welded the sending unit to it. Made some DIY bulkheads out of 5mm bolts and then welded the plate back into the tank. I finally put clamps on my fuel lines and mounted them, did the final mount on the transmission. Because I'm paranoid, I pulled the diff cover off, pulled the carrier out, cleaned everything with brake cleaner, and re-checked the wear pattern since my friend brought my gear marking compound back. The pattern turned out perfect, but I feel better now that I checked. I also figured out how I'm going to mount the alt and the power steering pump.

I still need to get some piping (3" exhaust and 2.5" charge), mount the trans and oil coolers, and finish the accessories. I'm so very very close.

vary interested in this build i have the same kit and didnt have the best of luck, several mods needed to be done just to make it fit which wasnt a big issue but after it was all said and done the amount of oil from both turbos on ex and air sides is horrid....even after i installed the rec. oil restrictor the think just pushes oil out the seals like crazy...interested to see the kit installed so i can compare exhaust routing/vac hose routing/ etc keep us posted

Successful eBay builds don't count if you're smart and know how to do stuff. :) :2thumbs:

The PC integration looks awesome, as does your attention to details (which make / break a car). Your brake pushrod looks a little fuzzy to me, but I'm a picky bitch / nazi about that stuff (you would be too if you've had brakes fail on you when you need them the most....which I'm sure you know is what happens with most weak links in a braking system).

But seriously (and be honest): how much of your own time & effort was wasted fucking things around to make those headers work? How much closer would you be if you'd bought a kit that actually bolted right in? ***How does the quality of this kit compare / contrast the quality of the rest of the build?***

(This isn't senseless eBay kit bashing; I have installed battled this exact kit personally.)

thats a true statement. Sometimes a "good deal" is rarely that. Plus, for me....the reason I build anything is for the fun of building it, not buying it.

Thanks for the comments Anthony. I stressed the brake pushrod several ways to see if it was going to break, and it held up well, so as of right now I don't have any reservations with it. We'll see in the future lol.
As far as the headers themselves go, honestly, I've not had that much trouble getting them to fit. I dimpled the passenger side strut tower for clearance, and I had to cut the flange off on the passenger side and rotate it .125" to clear the tall Ford Racing Valve Covers, and I had to true the flanges. Other than that, they weren't really that bad to do. The biggest problem I've found with the headers is the turbo placement. It's very difficult to get a good pipe routing path with them, and they seem to get in the way of the accessories.

Here are a few updated pictures. We've all been sick so not much has happened.

The Megasquirt and the PLX wideband controller mounted in the factory EEC location:

Rear diff, and fuel lines wrapping back to the tank:

Engine bay, with most of the intercooler piping tacked into place. Once I get everything 100% the way I want it, I'll burn it all together and pressure check it for leaks. Also working on the mounting for the alternator, and I'm fabricating a plate for the top of the PS pump bracket (where the A/C compressor would normally sit) to hold the coil.

Passenger side downpipe is finished. Going to do the driver's side and the charge piping today :welder:

Then I need to figure out where I'm going to mount my trans and oil coolers so I can put the nose back on the car.
