Stock LS2 block with forged internals (366ci) and Forced inductions FI-98x (98mm) turbo

    1st hit...spun 40' out.

2nd hit...lowered tire pressure 1/2 psi (A/F was FAAAATTTTTT...9.x:1 whole way down track - due to fuel change)
    60ft-1.363
    330ft-3.509
    1/8-5.244
    mph-142.52
    1000ft-6.733
    1/4-7.997
    mph-177.88

Third hit...added more boost at launch and leaned the fuel map out...car drove to the right at launch and got out the groove and spun ~50ft out...but I pedaled it and legged it thru the 1/4 for fueling data:
even spinning about 1.1 seconds into the run it went a 1.33 60ft :)...biggest surprise is that it picked up 48 freaking mph out the back door (123.26 to 171.14 mph )

    BUT

probably wasn't the wisest thing to do...hit some other parts of the map due to the spinning and it hurt something...didn't push water but oil got milky

after the coolant and oil mixing failure a few weeks ago, I finally took the bullet back to the engine shop for failure analysis.

liners #3 and #5 cracked bad. combustion was leaking thru the liners and blowtorching the block. It was pretty violent :jest: Funny thing was it took time to cause the damage we saw...the 7.99 was on a definately hurt motor

    head gaskets were intact.

Slight leakage around the middle 4 cylinders...30+ psi is just too much cyl pressure for regular ARP std size head studs

    on to the bottom end....

    rod bearings were all PERFECT.

pulled the main caps...factory powdered metal caps held just fine at the ~1700-1800hp level. pinned mains did their job...no cap walk

thrust looks almost new after 40 passes....ATI has their sh%t together when it comes to keeping the converter from pushing on the crank

very minimal crank flex...completely normal for a traditional-counterweighted lightweight crank. It had some light wear on the center main bearings.

bottom line...the moroso pan and melling oil pump work well and showed no evidence of oil starvation...motor was ~8100 rpm at times...

obviously the block is trashed, so we'll be replacing with a used LS2 "slut" block I found...plan is to resleeve with heavy-wall liners up the bore size to ~4.125...

No desire to throw in a LQ4 or LQ9 iron block and give it hell? That last pic of the deck is scary!

nope...already a heavy pig and the extra 70 lbs just is too much to bear...also want to go bigger bore now since its probably time to step it up to a 106mm turbo...4.125" minimum...just gonna do some enhancements to the LS2 block...including thick-wall aftermarket sleeves...then give 'er hell :2thumbs:

Beyond impressive. Congratulations on the pass! Hate to see the damage but it will be repaired and faster runs are to be had.
Certainly a "what if" kind of thing. What kind of pass would it have made, if there was no engine damage? Wonder how long it had been hurt?
