Any ideas if this would be a good sized turbo for a 2000 v6 camaro?

    Genuine GARRETT TA3410
    360 Degree Thrust Bearing
    Oil lubricated centersection.
    Manufacturer-GARRETT
    Model- TA3410
    Serial Number -715583 5006
    T3 Flange
    4'' Inlet
    Compressor (A/R) .70
    Turbine (A/R) .63
4 Bolt Exhaust flange (modified- welded on v band)

btw, the guy doesn't want much for it, bout $150 but i think i can get it for less.... he just wants to buy his kid a new psp

t3 is too small for that. My buddy runs a t70 on his 3800 and it runs very well. On a dd setup looking for 350-450hp I'd go with a 60-1 or something along those lines.

the idea for her car is only about 300hp tops at the rear wheels, just enough to keep up with an ls1 with little spool time and a moderate boost level (would like to keep it at 6-8psi)

not looking for crazy power, just something to make it a bit more fun

p.s. the t70 is going on the stang, lol

ive actually already read that and posted in the thread previous to making this thread but this turbo has become availible locally for dirt cheap and i would like to know if it will work or if i should just got with something else?

sorry but i haven't read the turbo sizing section of maximum boost yet and im honestly just looking for a free helping hand to say yes it will work at 6psi or no it wont

thanks for your help so far guys :D

I would run it. It's got a slightly larger turbine housing than the ebay turbo and a bigger compressor. I believe it has a 59mm compressor inducer vs I belive 50mm on the ebay turbo. Should work better imo, but it may spool slightly slower.

thank you, i really appreciate it

sorry, i didn't even think to compare the two even though i did in every other aspect but size....

ive heard the "brand" turbos tend to spool a bit sooner so we'll see.... im going to try and get it off of the guy before to long, hopefully i can get it for $125ish

search around for a 60-1 or 62-1 with a T3 .63 ar stg 5 hotside, works great on the engine, spools fast, and will make 300 to the wheels at 8 psi. I use a 62-1 on my turd.

well its a daily so im kind of wanting something that can help boost her mileage aswell with careful tuning and she doesn't need crazy power, just enough to outrun a 2010 v6 which does 14.5 in the quarter so 250 would be dead on almost and it shouldn't be hard at all to keep the auto alive

nice thing is, the turbo is only $75, no shaft play... are the seals on the second one replaceable at home? just in case.....

u can drop seals in but as some will say why is the seal leaking int he first place, could just be a worrn out seal but the bore in the cartidge could be messed up as well, and installing seals could be pointless

either of those links i posted will work for what u want, the bad things is they dont tell u the a/r sizes on those
a the second add states its a t3 housing which is somethign u deff want to stay with for what ur looking to do.
id email the guy and see if he can tell u

    id recomend a t3 .68 or
a t3 .8x housing being the better choice

    AFAIK its not blowing oil......

this is the actual turbo and the specs from the tag

    Turbo model # T04B80
    Garret # 409040-8010mat
    SERIAL # M0198-005

that one link was the only info ive been able to find but who knows..... he said no shaft play and it spins freely, i just wish i could find some more info on this turbo....

this is the exact one i had
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/T3-T...r_Truck_Parts_Accessories?hash=item518dd7bff6

there are cheape rones on ebay but i dont trust them they have black and blue tags on them and from what i gather are prone to failing right away

i do think u should go slightly larger then that turbo on a 3.8, i was usnig that turbo on a 2.8L and a 3.1L engines, it will spool really friggen fast on a 3.8 just not sur ehow high it will go before it starts to choke the motor, on my smaller engines i could rev to 6,500 with ease though
