ok guys here goes, i'm looking to do a super budget build and i want you guys to critique it.

Stock block stock bore just a hone job
    stock forged pistons
    re-ring
    re-bearing
    F-cam
ported e7's with needed springs for the cam
    head studs
    ported weiand x-cellerator manifold
    650cfm blow through holley
and i cant decide if i wanna do a masterpower 70 or 76mm turbo as eventually i plan on adding a set of nicer heads

I figure this setup should be in the mid 400's and be fairly reliable as long as i keep the boost down. what do you guys think?

It'll definitely work. Just go with the mp70. It'll split your block like the grand canyon just as easily as a 76mm will except the 70mm will spool faster. I wouldn't bother with a 76mm on a stock block. Only thing I would change is the e7's. I've heard that they lift alot easier and pop gaskets more so than the thicker deck alum heads. Thats just what I've read around here. Some guys do fine w em too. If the give you trouble just change em down the road.

E7's do have a pretty thin deck surface. Bet you could find some GT-40's for a few hundred bucks.

To be honest a stock came will work fine, just retard it 4 degrees with 1.7 RR. ( I think retarding increases RPM, correct me if I'm wrong)

I have a set of GT40 Heads ready to go with barely used springs and roller rockers. In the for sale section for 450 OBO. Thats if you want a better head.

I've driven HCI 302's with the MP70 and thought it was a little lazy. I would recommend something a little smaller since you're only looking for the 400's... I'm thinking 62-67mm range.

We have a new 64mm wheel in development right now. It is specifically for the HCI streetcars looking for killer response and a broad power band in the 400-600hp range.

X2 on the MP70 being a little big. It won't even be in its efficiency range, spool slow, and still be at block splitting #'s.

X3 on the 70 being a little too big for a mostly stock 5.0..

I have a hci mustang twisted wedge heads anderson b41 cam and a tfs r intake and a mp70mm turbo and yes this turbo is lazy at 10psi I haven't dynoed it yet. But don't be scared its still fun as hell when that thing is making boost o and I have the .68ar.

I had a 62 on a stock block, stock cam with GT40 heads and made 400 rwhp. It felt great and was a blast to drive. Got good mileage and I drove it everywhere. I had more fun with that than I do with my new combo.

Bigger Turbo = Bigger fuels system = more :spend:

I'd go with the smaller one.

    good luck and have fun!
