The boost reference on the regulator is hooked up to the front side of the carb hat. The MAP sensor is hooked up to the back of the intake manifold. Should these locations be changed?

I dont have a AFR gauge so I cant tell what that is doing when it starts to bog. Thanks for the help.

Verified the MAP sensor setting on the 7531 and it is correct. Checked the linkage on the carb and it is opening up all the way. I have not verified timing since start up a while back. If the timing is off could this cause bogging? Although there is bogging it still feels like there is a rev limiter that is activated for some reason. I have tripled checked all the rev limits and they are all way above 3000 rpm.

nah, they sound fine as is. That's how I'd run it too.

if you had a probem with excessive fuel pressure, I'd say to move the reference line to a different place on the bonnet, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Does it have BRPV's in it?

The A/F is VERY important - You need to get one on the car or get it on the dyno to get you close. Be sure the timing curve in the 7531 isn't zero'd out or something like that. It might be running max timing with no retard.

Is the timing locked out? at what?

I put a boost curve in the program to start retarding the time at 10 psia. The gauge on the 7531 screen was showing 9 psia when I started the car up.

Timing was locked out at 36 degrees, but it was checked a couple of weeks ago. I will reverify the timing and I am trying to put this thing on a dyno this Friday. I don't have my CO2 kit so I will only be making 8 lbs of boost. Should be a good starting place.

Thanks for all the help. :2thumbs:

Check the car idling with the laptop plugged in - verify that your timing curve is not pulling timing at idle. (the A in psia is is absolute pressure, meaning that positive pressure doesn't actually start till after 14.7 - the same reason you saw 9 psi at idle)

When the car idles, you should not see the timing needlle moving in the lower LH side of the screen. If it is, that may be a LOT of your problem.

Keep us posted, I'd like to see the end results!

Its not that hard using leaf springs, I have the same setup on my 67 camaro. With the old motor it would 60 foot in the high 1.2's. I go a 600 inch bbc with alot of nitrous. I also have a freind that runs a f3r with a 632 in a camaro on leafspring and cal-tracs that is running in the 4.8's and 4.7's eigth mile also on radials, so it can be done.

Did you ever get your bogging problem fixed?

I love this car by the way. Good luck to you!

I hope you got a AFR meter. There is too much money here to lean it out.

With work, in the process of moving, and the family, I have not had a chance to work on the car. I plan on trying to work out the bugs this weekend.

It' funny that you ask about the AFR meter. I am actually looking at purchasing a LM-1 this weekend. It looks like Titan Motorsports has a special on them right now. Will have to see what the funds look like.

THanks for the compliments on the car.

Got on the phone with Joe Soto with MSD and we figured out one of the problems with my car. Apparently I had the 2 bar MAP sensor programmed into the 7531 and the sensor is actually a 3 bar sensor. We got that straightened out but the weather was too bad to try the car out. If the weather clears up tomorrow I am going to try it out around town and see if any improvements were made. Great guys at MSD and great products as well.

Yea I got some but I can not figure out how to get them on here :bang:. If you got hot rod magazine in 07 and 08 it was in there for the pump gas drags, my car is the orange and black 67 camaro.

Re: Another 69 Camaro Drag Radial Turbo Build Need HELP! 7/12/09

Took the car out this past weekend for some test passes and some dyno numbers. At the dyno the AMS-1000 was hooked up wrong....so I never made any clean passes. I had the tubing from my increase solenoid tied in to the exhaust side of the decrease solenoid. When I would turn on the AMS, the solenoids would just click and never maintain wastegate pressure. Anyway...at the dyno with 5 psi on the AMS the car made 700 rwhp. I didnt figure out the boost controller issue until I was at the track. One thing I noted were the low AFR's and the bogging issue I had around 3000 rpm.

I took the car later that evening to a local 10.5 event out here in West Texas. On my first qualifying pass the car ran a 7.30 at around 114mph. The 60' was in the 2.0's. Like I mentioned...the car would basically die off the line. Car does not start hitting hard until after the 100ft mark. Second pass...after I fixed the boost controller the car ran a 6.50 with 5 psi on the spring. Dont have the exact timeslip...but on this pass I was able to stay on transbrake for a couple of minutes to try and make some boost. Once again the car feel on its nose after releasing the transbrake. Exact timeslip for the last pass it below

    Reaction - .9172
    60 Ft - 2.2614
    330 Ft - 4.9736
    1/8 ET 7.0751
    1/8 MPH - 118.23

I talked to Kevin at CSU earlier this week and the carb is on its way to California to have Kevin rebuild it. I dont know what Pro Systems experience with Blowthrus are...but I dont think they are there yet. After looking at the plugs and the way the car would die off the line...I think it was flooding. Hope to have the carb back in a week and do some more testing and dynoing.

    SlackCracker,
Theses are 15x10 wheels with 5.5 bs. Tires are 275/60/15 MT ET Drag radials.

Thanks to everyone who has checked out the build. Hope to have this thing running right in the next couple of weeks. Keep tuned in!

700 rwhp is insane for 5 psi with one of those turbo's. I made 730 rwhp with 22 pounds and a 355 sbc that was with a stock s400 not the 80mm. Are you sure it was only 5 pounds? With 24 pounds and 350 cubes I have heard of 1067 crank hp from an s480 but at 5 psi that sounds like a bit much considering the small cubes you have.

BUT either way the car looks good and I'm very interested to see what it makes for power when there is more boost in it!

5 psi on the wastegate. What I have been told is that you add the wastegate spring pressure and the boost controller pressure to get actual pressure. If that is the case then it would be 5 + 8 = 12 psi at the carb. I will do a little better keeping track with boost the next time I go to the dyno. Thanks.

you're probably gonna wanna get a A/F meter if you wanna get the thing to run right. otherwise you're gonna have a tough time pin pointing problems.
