I'm looking at getting a weldon that flows 135 gph @ 90psi. Rated to 1100hp forced induction 1300hp na. Anyone have experience with weldon pumps?
Going with a kit from Glenns using a couple walbros still isn't out of the picture. I'm looking for the cheapest route to meet my goals and still be reliable.

Looks like a damn nice setup.

Does the stock tank have a bladder inside or is it just a metal tank?

No bladder in the stock tanks, if you want a tank with the bladder in it Fuel Safe makes a DOT tank, its the same as the Cobra R, and they make it in the new and old styles. I think I may have a few of those tanks lying around somewhere.

    • I wouldn't weld a sump onto a stock tank unless you can get baffles added at the same time. If you don't, you end up with fuel that can get away from the pickup.

Here's a writeup on the return style system on my 98. FYI: I picked up a 97 style tank from Glenn's Performance. It's pretty bad ass.

Here's a link to the writeup:

interesting read. Aeromotive said that the A1000 can support 800hp forced induction at 45psi. but if you ramp the pressure up to 60psi you can run at 1000hp forced induction. this isn't recommeded by them stated before the fuel heats up with more pressure as it is sent back to the tank.

That 3 255 pump setup is the one i am looking at making for mine. How much HP is it good for?

These are all great posts. I'm considering doing this as soon as I finish the turbo build. I'm probably going with the all inclusive kit from Glens. I have one question that I didn't see answered. What needs to be done with the factory electronics to get all this to work? Oh, its an 01 GT

+1 . does their tank kit allow use of the stock hat...so the sending unit still works??

I know this is a dumb question but I am trying to build my own fuel system as well. Do you put the regulator after the fuel has gone through the rails and it releases the extra into the return line?

yes after the rails is how i do it. it can go either way but its easier and i feel better to do it that way

There is some wisdom to this. I run a system much like the systems show earlier in this thread. But do keep the FRP sensor in tact. This will allow the computer to modify the injector pulse widths when rail pressure rises or falls below a threshold. Normally 39 psi. This will allow running high fuel pressures to make injectors bigger without major retuning, it will smooth out regulator fluctuations and even add injector pulse width if the fuel pump starts tailing off. If you have enough injector of course. Gives for very consistent fuel control.

    Thanks,

    Ed

    Quick update:

I was running both Bosch fuel pumps powered up full time and they started to moan.

What I think was going on was the fuel was getting cycled from tank back to tank so quickly that it was causing the fuel to heat up. I'm now running a Hobbs switch that turns on the second pump at 3 PSI.

I'll report back once I drive the car a little more.
