Hey guys, i have been researching and started putting together parts for my build for a while now and might as well start a thread. i picked up two fcs, my silver daily and my white s5 for a really great price. i first wanted to turbo my small block but dont have the funds to finish it the way i want so i am going na. i work at a small shop owned by my uncle were it is just him and i. we do everything from drag cars to barett jacksons to regular cars. i built a dsm and hurt mustangs and vettes but wanted rwd and have always been in love with 7s. my white s5 was like a godsend bc it came with alot of great stuff.

it already has a t2 rear, poly suspension and mount bushings front, back, and rear. mazda comp diff mount, pinion snub, dtss elim, front racing beat sway bar. has 4piston calipers, green pads, slotted rotors, and i just ordered ss brake lines. it has pearl on top of the white and the interior is mint. my uncle has a camaro that he bought when he was 16 and has been bracket racing it ever since and runs 10s. it has been off the road for over 4 years for a off body resto and he said i could use his motor. it is a 350 .30 over 10.5-1 4bolt main cast crank all balanced. i have not decided on heads yet. plan on running a 350 and am not sure if i want to use granny mounts or make my own. i have headers from my uncles car and am going to use a grannys dshaft. i am going to use a jegs radiato 22x9 and have a bunch of random parts around the shop that i am going to throw on it. AFTER THE LONG INTRO HOW ABOUT SOME PICS

made some really good and really bad progress this weekend. i ordered ss brake lines from mazdatrix and put together all of my front brakes xcept for the lines. i also put together my front end and modified my firewall for carb. after working 6days on other peoples junk i like to relax on sunday and take the time to try and do shit right on my own junk yet i still managed to get pissed and crack my windshield. i pushed the firewall in to far an had to pry it back out. while doing so the windshield cracked . got to break a few eggs to make an omelet. ps i hate that saying. plan on running 16x8 rota slipstreams in front (on silver car) heres some pics

Looks good. Welcome the the swapped rx7 club. When I was N/A I ran mid 11's all day long on a 420hp 350, just to give you an idea. They are excellent little race cars. Keep posting. Steve

P.S. take the pinion snub and throw it away. Make a solid mount from where factory snub mounts, and weld it solid to the rear subframe. Looks like a C when you are done. If you can't picture it I will take a pic of mine. With that mod and KYB AGX"S on full hard these little cars sixty foot 1.4 all day long. I have done 12-15 swaps, so if you have any questions, just ask.

thanks for all the support guys. wgsr could you send me a pic of that? do you mean to the stock mazda pinion mount i have? also could you break down what you have found on suspension. i am a kyb dealer and plan on getting the adjustables but honestly i wanted to have a domestic look and leave stock springs in back and use lowering springs up front? what do you think? what are the different header set ups you have used? i have the camaro headers and told i need to box subframe? if you could send me some pics of your swaps and some builds if you have them i would greatly appreciate it. thanks man. mdoe8 i am apart of v8rx7. it is awesome and i have learned alot over there. thanks for all the positive reinforcement. it is hard to work on cars 7 days a week and then not get drained on playing with your own but i went to the track the other day and man i cant wait :2thumbs:
ran into a couple of problems
not sure what to do about the asshole that over ported my heads. they jb welded the original manifold bolt holes and had them set up for a dragster so i am either going to drill and tap or make an adapter plate. will post picks later.
i also am going to have sick compression due to 58cc heads and only 3.2cc flat tops so i have found cometic gaskets for 4.060 bore that should be able to get me aroud 11 or 10.5-1. not sure which one i am going for yet. i will be working on it this sunday so will keep you guys up to date

Sorry that I haven't posted pics of the snubber yet. I will be at the shop tomorrow after work, and will snap one. Those Cobras are 8.5 wide right? they will tuck nicely on the back, but stick out just a little on the front. If you make some 1/2 inch aluminum frame spacers, put them between the front subframe and the body, and the front won't sit down, and the tires won't rub when you turn. Looks like your car is coming along nicely.

They are "17x8" but i did not measure them and my other wheels for the back are suppose to be "17x9" and then i measured them to be 9.5?? But oh well. So mot likely they are 17x8.5 but i will measure them and see. I am intrigued by this subframe spacer ordeal. Did not even think of this b4. By sit down what do you mean, rub tires under launch? I was planning on rolling all of my fenders to fit in these slightly wider rims, luckily my other uncle owns a body shop and i am building his sons 300ztt so we are working things out. Thanks for the input wgsr1.

Made a little progress this weekend. I finished the suspension, for now, and also finished the brakes. just need to bleed. I test fitted my wheel set up and am pleased with how it came out. Ran into only one problem i had not thought of, the mustang wheels require a deeper lug nut that the 7. So now i have to figure out some to use. I also started going through my bottom end. I cleaned up three of the pistons and they look like brand new so that is def a plus. Crank is forged so should be good for some power and so are the pistons. Rods are "pink" but i might install arp bolts in them we will see... I also painted my mounting kit

well after further consideration, beer and car talk, i have decided to go with some old school brodix heads which are better ported and retain stock bolt pattern for chevy manifolds. already had a fresh rebuild but are set up for dirty cam and am going to replace the springs. will post pics later. we are putting a big block into a nova this week so i will finally have a free engine stand :chacha:. i have been cleaning one piston and rod a night and am planning on playing it safe by installing arp rod bolts into the pink rods. more pics coming soon....

This weekend i made a lot of progress. bled the breaks, tucked the wiring, installed the motor mount, removed the fuel tank and began the fuel system. file fit my rings and painted my intake man, relocated the battery and cleaned the interior.
