    Hi to everyone

i have a brand new pt 106 f-trim in my garage (1.00 ar)

i was told it would spool faster but the top end might be a bit flat/out of steam-

i am looking to put this turbo on a lsx 427 over the winter-

could or should it make 1500-1700 engine hp?

    Thanks

Soom of the turbo guys would know more than me. But I think the F trim is going to hold you back from those numbers. We run the G trim with 1.0 AR. This year we will try the 1.32 AR

i might use it still just to get my feet wet as i have not raced for a couple of years-

the f trim is really for smaller cubed engines and dont flow like the g trim for the higher power numbers. you really need a g trim 1.0 or 1.32 housing. i know a 400 cubed motor can spin the 1.5 housing desently, but those are pure built race applications. im not sure on your application and rpms desired to really speck out the right one. i would suggest a g trim with a 1.32 housing for that power level, but if its a lower rpms(under 7k rpm's) motor the g trim 1.0 would be seem to be fine. precision would recommend the 1.0 gtrim housing im sure, but also stating a 1.32 would work aswell.

    Turbo freak- i understand

yes its for a race engine only 427 cubes-3300 pound 2 speed vechile

since i have not raced for a few years i will use it to get my feet wet for half a year or so- its mainly for 1/4 but i am going to give 1/8 a go so it might be okay for 1/8'th

then i can put that on a spare 364 engine that i have and buy maybe a billet 114 or somehing or something smaller with the g trim a/r options-

looking to go into the 7.40-7.90 region one day

    Thanks for the help guys-

You might check with Precision since the last I knew the PT106 was G-Trim only. The 101 and smaller turbo's were listed with an F trim option, but not the 106. Might be something custom though.

Chris i just check it before its a 106 with a 1.00 ar housing-

you might be right that it is a custom one-

there should be a mark on the housing with a letter g or f on it. this is what would determine if tis usuable or not

There are 1.0 housings with F-trim wheels and there are 1.0 housings with G-trim wheels. I'm still pretty sure that it will be a G-trim wheel versus the F-trim since its a 106.

Okay guys i will check for the stamping for the g or f-(i did not have a look only looked for the a/r 1.00 stamp)

but on a other note it should perform well on the 1/8th track ?

It probably won't be optimal, but I doubt you will see backpressure readings high enough to cause any issues at that power level. Try and spin up the turbo to its max power potential with that many cubes and it might be a different story.
