the advertisement said run full timing off the line and as boost rises the psi is detected through a rubber hose from the engine to the msd box and the timing is reatrded as the boost rises.theres also a knob to adjust from .5 to 2 degrees timing retard with each pound rise in boost,

this sounds great but does it really work as advertised???? anyone with any experience with the performance of these units???

Yes it works!, the adjustment knob goes from 0-3 degrees per pound of boost and it retards up to 15 degrees total if I remember correctly!

Yes it works. But in some instances folks have had issues with older units (w diaphrams) leaking or failing. Also make sure you connect the source line securely so it doesn't blow off while in boost.

i take it you would need to hook it to the manifold, not the carb hat....i have one still in the box and getting ready to install it

sounds like it works pretty good though....havent read the directions but i take it hooks to the manifold and not the carb hat.

    thanks for the input guys

If you can return it , I would go with this one . It uses a MAP sensor instead of a diaphram . http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=MSD-6530&N=700 115&autoview=sku

Yes , you ref. it below the carb .

X2...thats the box I just got and seems real nice. Plans are to start tuning it this week! I think the 6530 box is a touch less expensive as well.

    Blow-thru .

The 6530 would be way better than the BTM .

You can set up an entire timing curve , not just the old º per pound . You can have the timing start retarding at what ever psi you want , and even run a vacuum advance .
