It's the 5" tall cast (edl-3848). I put the mock up motor in and it looks like that's all I have room for with the 1" cowl hood. I wanted to get the high flow 7" tall, but I don't want to buy a hood.

sorry i didnt read that tire size...nothing is ever easy when it comes to a new combo but i have a feeling with a little time and effort you will be in the low 9's...good luck and keep us updated

cool I still need a hood and was planning a 4" extended cowl so I will have to check out the 7" . going to be starting on the megasquirt install on the 91 here soon so I might be calling you a couple of times hell I will even throw gas money at you or trailer it out to you so that you can get me straight on the wiring of it. I really hate wiring well anyways will see you around

Motor is back from the machine shop. Is anyone ever happy with the machine shop bill? :bah: But anywho it's home now. Gonna get the oil drain back fittings welded on the pan, wash up the timing cover, bolt the thing together, then start fabing the turbo system. More work/work/work... :welder:  :welder:  :welder: :stupid:

    Hi TooFastT3s,

Are you going to use a mega squirt II for the fuel controller? If so, How will you control timing, what dizzy will ya use, msd 6al etc???

I am planning about the same build except using my built c4 with rev manual valve body and trans brake. I will do moslty 1/8th mile drag racing. Will the built power glide perform that much better??? Does going to a glide make the car faster by blowing the tires off less due to a higher 1st trans gear? With a glide dont you have to rev the motor much higher because of only 2 gears in a drag strip run? I dont want to rev my motor much higher than about 6000 RPM on the shifts and thru the traps. Thanks in advance for any info!!!

Looks like a great build so far.

From what I've seen the glide calms the car down on the leave, because of the low 1st gear. It is alot cheaper to build too. The parts for a C-4 are too damn expensive. You shouldn't have to rev the motor any higher because it's a glide, but you will want to spend a little time with a known converter company to get the right one because it's more important with a glide.

I will be using my MegaSquirt 1 that I had with the stock block, TFI style dist, MS does the timing controll. I'm not sure if I'll be going with a Dig 7, or a 6AL.

    Thanks,

    Nate

how hard was it to spend your motor over by hand when you got it back from the shop

Not hard, but I needed a wrench (my stock block would turn over by hand :ahah: :bang: :D)

Not much in the way of pictures, but I got the heads, pan, timing cover bolted on. Should have the motor in the car by this weekend, then get to start fabing the system. More pic's of that will follow.
