hey guys i have a 3500 stall converter and was launching off the brake and 2 step @ 3300. Here's the dilema im having..

When i rev my car up to right where the 2 step begins itll dead hook. If I have my foot to the floor with the 2 step limiting it at 3300 it will squeal the tires. What do you guys do to control how you launch?? For ex: lets say that at 50 percent throttle the rpm is 3300, the car will still hook with the 2 step limiting at 3300 when the throttle is 60 percent or more.....im trying to think of a way to regulate my throttle when launching....

maybe a shift light based on throttle percentage?? I know what im trying to describe may be confusing...

    thanks

    Drew

even with the 2 step at 2800 it will still squeal the tires with my my throttle at wot... i think this prob im having may have to do with the hotside being a tad small and it spools up so goddamn quick....maybe not..

Sounds like your convertor is a bit too tight. I'd loosen it up to 4000 or so.

""watch the boost guage and lauch by that.""

when im on the 2 step itll make about 5 psi, its not gonna go much more than that since im only pushing 7 psi.

    "transbrake"

im using one, by "brake" i meant tbrake. Should have been more desriptive, sorry.

    "Converter too tight"

i was thinking the same thing man! Its a redneck 9" if i recall and only a 3500 stall. Maybe a 4k stall would do me good.

What will the car stall without the 2 step but still on the transmission brake?

thats a good question, i read to launch max 200 rpm below your stall speed......

Thats what ive always herd and it seems to always worl great. Lets just say if the converter only stalls 3000 on the brake with no two step and then u 2 step it at 3000 u r probly going to have issues like what your having. Sounds like your gar is building power fast enough to flash past your 2 step pill. If its doing this try going down 300 rpm off the max stall of the converter. :2thumbs:

My converter flashes to 3100 on the transbrake. As I sit on the button, it slowly builds boost/rpm until it hits the 2 step at 3800. This is the rpm I launch at. Pretty standard procedure.

What do you have for tires and suspension?

Its not good on the converter or the trans to put a higher pill in the 2 step than what the converter stalls, but if it works for you and havent had any troble more power to ya.That puts a shit load of heat in the transmission.

i am running lakewood 90/10's up front with 130/14" coilovers. Rear are solid bushing control arms all around with lakewood 50/50's and arb.

The problem seems to have nothing to do with the rpm im launching at but more where my foot is on the throttle. It doesnt matter if my 2 step is set at 2500, if my foot is on the floor when i release the button the tires go up in smoke.
