    All,

I've been looking at those Cummins 4 bangers. I have a 4.3 powered S-10 dd and I'm trying to talk myself into such a swap.

Check out 4btswaps.com. I considered doing this once. I didn't just because the hassle for me at the time. However in a light truck it defiately could be worth it if you can get over the vibration. My ISB 24-Valve averages around 17-18mpg mixed city and highway and has gotten as high as 22mpg. This is in a 3500 Dually so i can only imagine what a 4bt could do in a S-10 while still being plenty powerful.

Hey Dave, how ya been? I just got a new dd put together, its a 1990 geo tracker with a 1.6 vw turbo diesel. I get 26-7 mpg chasin around here close to home. It has pretty good power too with the turbo. Maybe a vdub motor might work for you too?

Go for it, just remember you will have to do some beefing up with that swap.

I have one in my Bronco II and a friend of mine has one in his Ranger. Mine's an auto and moves out pretty good. The swap isn't bad if not afraid to make it fit. Here it is. never finished though.

I looked into the swap a while back with a 55 powerwagon I had. It just seemed like the only way to buy one was to buy the whole damn bread truck with it. I found used 6bt's cheaper. If you were able to find one reasonably priced they sure do make cool swaps

They're not as plentiful as 6bt's so they're a little pricey, but are available. ebay every so often, and on that 4bt site listed earlier, in the classifieds.
Adapters are available to bolt it to almost any trans you want to use.
I have one to put into my '81 Dodge Ram 150, from a potato chip truck, with the TH475, basically a heavy duty TH400. It's going to be my streetrod/toy and I do plan to twin it.

Just go with the 6BT, easier to find.

Oh and you can shoehorn them into a 1st gen S10:
