I have an 89GT with a 6pt in it right now. My car runs 10.20@130, i know it will be in the 9's this year. I want to be able to run 9's at FFW and NMRA but my cage is only legal to 10.00 correct? I know you can buy the 10pt/halo add on from JEGS for $110. The guy who put my cage in said he dosent think he could weld all the way around (360*) where the halo meets the old cage and where the pillar bars meet the halo. Are my only options using gussets? Does anyone have any pics of these being used in a situation like mine. I DO NOT want to cut the remaining cage out and start over. I usually go to a hillbilly track close to me and they dont give a shit if I run 9.99 with a PVC cage

    What do you guys think?

Thats what I thought.. How big are these? where exactally do they need to go? Pictures?

Looks like this will be my only option... Do you guys think this will look too busy with the gussets? I guess it depends on where they go and how big they are.

the gussets are only about 1"x1". they're not very noticeable.

I would use the others. I would think if you pulled the windshield and pulled the head liner out the front window you could weld it all. But i don't know.

You have a nice wife, and a little kid right....... enough said.

I am not trying to bust your balls. Just concerns me with how fast that car is going and can go, and down the road how fast you will make it go. Your a turbo change away from going faster. I have seen it a 100 times. I only want this and then that, and then this and it never ends.

Does the bottom of the 6-point mount to 6x6 squares on top of the sheetmetal floor or to a set of through the floor subframes? If the first, maybe you can cut just the bottoms out of the car, drop the entire cage inside the car a couple inches to weld the tops, then weld in new plates at the bottom. Just a thought

I know it really needs it. Im gonna talk to my guy tonight to see what we can do... Actually the cage dosent go through the floor only mounts to 6x6's.. I'll see if he can cut and lower it.. Id rather not pull the windshield and head liner. :bang:

Well I just got off the phone with my cage guy and he thinks he can weld all the way around it :chacha: I am going to make it legal for 9's finally. Got to add the kicker bars, put in a new door bar add the window net and look into getting all my safety shit (pants, gloves, shoes, ect.ect.ect. :bang: :bah: :stupid:) I also need to add a transmission shield to my C4, I just hope it fits in between my dual 3" downpipes.... :'( I should have just took Tims advice and stuck with tiddly winks, its a lot cheaper

Anything else I need to run 9's???????????

    Jeremy,

Give me a ring on the Safety Stuff. I know no one values it until your
upside down, on fire @ 100mph and then it is a little late to try & upgrade.

    cheers

Agreed on the safety stuff 100%

I have a good friend that owns two racing safety clothing companies, one of them is entry level and offers driving suits that just meet tack standards (circle track stuff). I asked him who in the hell would buy that stuff, he replied you would be surprised. If I am on fire and upside down I want to know my ass is protected! You'll never see a serious bike rider buy a $100 helmet or a $200 set of leahters but they sell em.

yes, but try your best to weld as much as you can. try to weld at least 90% around the bar.
