I am currently in the process of finally installing the ptk kit I purchased 2+ years ago on my 93 mustang. My questions are, 1. Has anyone else experienced fittiment issuses with the waste gate dump tube, the exhaust manifold and the actual waste gate itself? The dump tube is hitting the k-member and the manifold and when I try to bolt up the waste gate, the flange on the wg is about 1/2" off from the flange on the cross over pipe. The car currentley has solid motor mounts and the exhaust manifold wouldnt even come close to fitting with the convertible mounts I had in the car. Would a tubular cross member provide clearance for the dump tube?

    2. Where the hell do the o2 sensors go? There is one port right on the passenger side exhast manifold the there is one on the crossover. There is also a bung on the down pipe but that is apparently for a wide band or whatever else. It just seems a little odd that the o2 sensors would have such a difference in placement in the exhaust. One would heat up faster than the other so would that cause any issues? Please help. Thanks a bunch.

one O2 goes on the cross over and the other goes in the second bung on the downpipe. the placement wont bother too much. And I had to remake my dump tube mine also hit the k-member.

The driver side 02 goes in the crossover tube and the pass side 02 goes in the pass side header collector. The bung in the downpipe is for a WB.

Can you try a different set of motor mounts that don't drop the motor?

The solid mounts that I put in to replace the convertible mounts raised the engine up about 1/2" so im not sure if or how much of a drop they are. I couldnt even get the passenger side header on with the vert mounts in. I dont have any other mounts to try so I was going to try to shim the mounts up alittle to try and gain more clearance for the dump tube. Either of you guys running a tubular k-member?

everybody has issues with this. I flippeed mine upside down, and dump it to the atmosphere now, and I took the dp, ans smashed the tube and welded a bead across the smashed tube. I'm pretty sure this is what "ALOT" of people do. I wish I didnt have it like that as I can barely hear the turbo anymore.

I thought about doing something similar with venting the dump tube to the atmosphere, but I need to pass emissions and I also dont want the added noise. What motor mounts you guys running? Im not opposed to purchasing new mounts if they will help with the clearance issues. Id just rather not cut/modify the damn thing. Thanks for the replies!

I plan to run mine turned upside down also. I haven't tried to fit my kit up yet.

I have read were some guys run a baby muffler on the WG to quiet it down, just another option. I wiill wait to see how loud mine is going to be before I put a muffler on my WG.

I flipped my WG 180 degrees over as well and dump it to atmosphere and had the tube on the downpipe closed.

I also moved the O2 sensor that was in the turbo header down into the crossover right next to the other O2. Has worked fine for 5+ years just fine this way and it is a lot easier to get to IMO.

Older pic, but you get the idea

I have a 93 'vert with this turbo kit 76mm...

I have a QA1 Tubular K-member that kept hitting the DS header, so I trim a little and then reinstall the engine, I did that for most of the day, pulled the engine transmission 8 times till I got it perfect. I ended up have to slice into the tube about 3/8" and longways down the tube about 5" and then I cut, bent, and welded in plate steel to fill the hole I had made and restore strength.

I too had a issue with the wastegat flanges being off while trying to mount the WG, after prying, pushing and pulling. I gave up. I then loosened all of the V-band clamps, then the WG could be bolted up easily, then i retightened all of my V-bands.

My down tube didn't hit anywhere.

Again i have a 93 'vert with vert mounts.

overall crappy design on PTK part, but its the only part of the kit I dislike. Everything else is very functional and a pleasure to look at.

If you are running closed loop you should have each 02 monitoring the correct bank. If you put the 02 in a spot where the exhaust gases from the other bank are going to get sampled by the 02 than the computer will make adjustments to the wrong bank. It could be chasing it's tail trying to get the correct A/F.

Like I said, have not had issues with it for years. My tuner knows what I have down and he never acted like he could not tune around it.

90 % of the time if your in as deep as a turbo on a mustang like this your not using a stock ecu, and any misfire, or bank by bank tunning can be done by listening to the car, reading an afr meter such as an lm1, and reading the plugs periodically. Although I did keep the 02 design ptk originally came with.

Well I actually got everything to bolt up without having to modify the dump tube. I had to use a big pry bar and a floor jack to tweak the dump tube but it bolts up to the waste gate now. The tube still hits the header but clears everything else. I got the rest of the kit installed tonight and it looks great. Now I just have to finish up hiding the wiring harness and I can fire this pig up.Thanks for all of the replies!

cause the heat cycles will mold the pipe, or cause he will refuse to do it again?

Correct. And after that shit goes through some heat cycles, it was a mother fucker to get off. Just a lot easier to dump to atmosphere.
