Was talking pump gas tune, not race gas since it seems to be what this guy wants. It may have been 12s, but still it's not like there's any induction there.

For the camaro, it depends on your driving; for highway I may consider a 700, but at the same time if you can make a lot of power you don't need a ton of gear so a 3 spd works ok. I've also never found a T-brake for a 700R4, but that may not be 100% true. The 350 also has the advantage of better gear ratios, 1-2 on a 700R4 is pretty crappy tbh, it's got way too much RPM drop between shifts.. I built up my 700R4, I trust it for a fairly hot N/A motor, not a boosted engine. I think the 350 would be a good swap for you if you're not running a bazillion miles on the highway. That being said, 30% less RPM on the highway is very very tempting...........

I have a different take on this subject than most of the other members. There was no mention of your horsepower goals and rpm range / limit. The SB2 / SB2.2 head flow extremely well but, you will need to get one with combustion chamber about 60cc or better. The turbo may fit for your application if it moves the amonunt of air that is required at the rpm range that you want. There still is a lot of different debate about boost level and power on demand. By this I mean, which is the better engine, if all is the same except for the heads. A engine that makes 1000 HP at 10lbs. of boost or one that makes 1000 HP at 20 lbs.? A engine that makes the 1000 HP at 6500 rpm or 8000 rpm?

I went through the same event about 2 years ago, I am building 1600 HP 454 small block with SB 2.2 heads. My heads ard Brodix GB2200 which has 69cc chambers. I am using a Dart tall deck block, Scat 4.125 billet crank, billet rods, Ross custom piston to achieve 8.5 compression ratio, Edlbrock 2955 intake, next is the turbos. I would like to make 1000 HP at 10 lbs. of boost within a rpm of 5500 to 6500. I believe that I have found the Holset turbos that will give me enough air to make me wet myself within a 60ft stretch. I still have a lot of other item to get and issues to address such as will the intake flow enough air so not to choke the heads.

My best advice is start from scratch and set your goals, there are and have been plenty of members that have built some serious power plants and have detailed good and bad event during the build. Use their experiences good and bad to help you achieve. You need a engine a goal first, how much power will be required to get you a 11 second car? After you figure that out , build an engine for a 10 second car because horsepower is a good and expensive drug!! Do it now rather that redue later to satisfy for increased craving.

Listen to Don... I have an almost Identical engine setup as Macy, and with the AFR's you can get a 76cc chamber, allowing you to run a pretty meaty piston. Mine is at 9.0:1 with a 101mm, and at 20psi I've been 158 mph in the 1/4. At 24psi the car put down 1284 RWHP with little effort. I've only pulled the valve covers once, and that's cause a gasket was leaking.

I've just been inchin up on it, but after watching the SCSN's in Vegas, I think I'm ready to let it eat.... :2thumbs:

They work ok I guess. This 3500lb car has a nasty habit of standing up 100 feet out ;)
