Awesome car, i hope you get your problems figured out. You're definitely in some uncharted territory for the mod motors.

Sorry to hear you may have hurt it! I've been chomping at the bit waiting to hear what this beast can do. Good luck and hopefully it isn't anything major.

What is this new brand of piston you were testing, and what pin was in it? Thanks

What does it matter? The fact is that MMR is exploring new territory with a 2100hp Modular engine, they are probably working closely with a piston manufacturer on pistons and pins that will survive that type of abuse.

They are breaking parts now so that they can offer a better product to you later that won't break.

Kudos to MMR and any automotive parts and service providers that aren't afraid to do D&R were it really counts to their customers, at the track!

I broke a .866 CP tapered tool steel pin too, Mark. Was a brittle fracture. Are you using .927 or .866?

Thanks for the info both MMR and Shane. What kind of RPM's are these pin failures accuring at? I am assuming north of 7500?

Actually, mine happened when a torque converter bolt backed out and caught on the back of the block when I was cranking it up. It wasn't turning 100rpm, but it dead stopped with #8 having just fired. Pop!

We went with GRP aluminum rods and had to keep the .866. If we'd have went with a steel rod, we could have fit a .927. We'll see how it ends up. I'm putting .180 tool steel pins in it this time I think.

Speaking of which..where are these things getting shipped too? I told CP i'd give them an addy today.

Also....the motor we did for Aeromotive (323ci) made over 2000hp at only 8200 rpm at Duttweilers.....with about 2000 rpm to go until it should peak. They are excited about the potential and are hoping to run Comp Elim this weekend. Duttweiler wants that record prettty bad I think...LOL! When they run it all out to over 10,000 and with full boost.......LOOK OUT. :chacha:
