I know there are alot of turbo f303 cam users on these forums. I did a search but I was wondering how high can I spin the engine (and make power) with a naturally aspirated 302 using the fcam.

    I'm thinking of this combo:

Edelbrock Performer Heads 1.90 1.60 valves
    Edelbrock Performer RPM2 intake
    Fcam with 1.6 RR
    70mm TB
    1 5/8 Shorty Headers with 2.5 exhaust

I don't want to have to rev the engine past the 6250 rev limiter

Will I be able to make peak power under 6250rpm?

What would be the best guess as to rpm shift points for best ET?

5,200 was my stock engine shiftpoint. 5,800 sounds good though.

    Any other guesses?

The camshaft dictates a usable power range, say from 3500 rpm to 5500 rpm. You can take that 2000 rpm spread and move it up or down in the motor's range by advancing or retarding the camshaft with a good timing chain/gear set.

If you feel you would like more low end and less top end rpm power range, simply advance the cam.

    Thanks.
I can't seem to find the usable power range on the "f". In my mustang catalog it just says "slightly more midrange and top end power than the E303". The E303 lists it as good to 5500. So the F is good to maybe 5800 or 6000?
I just don't want to have to buy an Extender to clip the 6250 limiter. Or fancy exotic valvetrain, lifter etc.

You will need to shift near the rev limiter. Most N/A combo's in my experience with the F-Cam peak around 5700-6000 rpms. Your RPM2 intake should carry good power out to 6250 depending on the valve springs.

I can't remember the specs from that cam.
If you can post ALL the specs from that cam, I'm sure one of the engine masters here can give you a more accurate RPM of what the cam is going to do in your engine.

Thanks for sharing some real world experience.
The race track that I frequent here near NY (Englishtown, NJ) will be opening up in 5-6 weeks. I guess I will know then.
If the intake (RPM2) turns out to be too big, I can always throw on an old stock Cobra manifold that I have and try it. Any thoughts on that?
By the way; the Edelbrock Performer heads rate the springs to 6500 RPM and .575 lift but I'm not sure if it's a slight exaggeration.

F-cam should have peak hp at approx 6000 rpm. Your rev limit set a few hundred rpm higher should be perfect.

I'm the owner of that car. The car doesn't have an F cam in it it has a TFS II cam in it but it. But the cam's are pretty close in specs. But this car also has a very well built long rod 306 in it with a very built rear end. Running a full spool, 31 splines and 4.10's. Done quite a bit since getting the car back.

    Thread jack!
I knew you would take the bait!!!! :DYes it had a TFS 2 when I had it.
You put the 4.10s back in?Whats it going now? Unjack!

Seriously, the F cams cars here at the shop(2 of them) seem to like 57-5800 shift
points. Both are carbed with ported E7s.

Didn't just put the 4.10's in it. I had some serious carnage in the rear end. Snapped an axle and all that good stuff at the track...Actually the way it is in the picture you posted is with the old 3.55's and stock axles on motor. The same way on the gas it was about a foot and half higher :D Went a best of 6.81 on a 50 shot and best of 7.04 n/a. Of course on slicks and dumping it about 5200 or so. That rear end held up for 50+ pass's though.

I replaced the entire rear end with a already built 8.8 with strang c-clip elm's, 31 spline mosers, lightweight moser spool, swapped to 5 lug but still running convo pro's, upr anti roll bar, welded up all the torqe box's, and a few other goodies. New ignition system, spinning it to about 6200-6400.

With the new set up i'm hoping to cut the 60' time down from 1.45 to about 1.30-35 if it's better I won't be mad. Should make for a good 6.20-30's on a 50-75 shot and get into the .70-80's on motor. Believe it or not the car cuts damn near identical 60' times on and off the gas.
