i currently have a stock block 347, vic jr heads, 94 gt body, built aode, megasquirt, yadd yadda yadda and an 88mm turbo, should i sell my stuff and go to a 460 fox. im just thinking that i am very limited because of my stock block stroker. and it is a waste of an 88mm

Well you are obviously looking for power. Either one will require an aftermarket block. A turboed stroked 385 series motor would be hot...

thats why i was thinking bb because scj heads, stockblock, crank will hold upwards of 1000 hp. radial princess was deep in the sixes at over 200 w/ a stock block 460. i was thinking around 800 would be a superb number. for me to get that w/ a smallblock i will need a better shortblock and more fuel, ignition, trans, and more than likely race gas. 88mm blowthrough bbf that is just sickening

It'd end up being much cheaper to build a dart block up, than it would be a BBF.

it won't be that much cheaper actually but yes it would be cheaper. I was a **** hair away from doing this to my project and the problem isn't the cost of the shortblock it's the money you have into a decent set of heads. Remember when you see prices for BBF heads they are priced out PER head and almost always bare. BBF heads are big money that's where you lose. Also I decided that it's not worth the added weight and loss of engine bay space when you can make just as much power (or very close) with a windsor....I worked out all the pricing and it made more sense for me to go windsor...HOWEVER I already had a set of TFS High Ports sitting which helped make up my mind for me ;)

I've been doing the same numbers, another problem is putting an effective turbo kit together for a big displacement engine in a tight engine bay. You can get into some serious bucks on fabricating a good hot side for a big block! I was looking at an aftermarket block 572 with "A" heads, water to air, and a GT55-88... or possibly twin 70's!

yup yup. you can get 900rwhp outta that 88mm. 385 cu will make it spool pretty quick too.

I would not want a 460 in the front of a fox. Ive rode in them before and they were so nose heavy they sucked to drive, steer and stop. i guess all that could be overcome, but i would rather have something smaller.

Yeah like you said when you spend the time to calculate the proper spring rates and whatnot they don't drive any different then a 5.0 car, aside from being a little bit noticably heavy when stopping. My big issue is just the tight space with a turbo setup. BBF's don't leave much room for a 5" down pipe ;)

the car would pretty much be a srait line only car anyways. so what trans would be a good choice for a bbf pushing 800 or so? c6 or th400? or glide?

I dont know, get a stock 460 block, any heads you want, an 88 minimum, and have at it. Cheap simple power. Just a pain to work on once its in there.

If you use aluminum heads on the 460 and only run an alt, and waterpump.. I doubt its any heavier than a Cast iron headed EFi 5.0 with all the accesories and crap they come stock with in the engine bay.
