that tubular front clip is sick, I want to run 2x3" square tubing in place of the factory rails, and extend my cage thru the firewall to the strut towers. if I replace the factory sheetmetal rail where it turns down the firewall, with the 2x3", and weld it right to the subframe connectors it will be solid from the radiator support to the rear LCA's. Just an idea though.

Well its that time again to do some updates. This work was actually done last weekend but I have been pretty busy to do any updating. Sooooo here we go. Paul go everything machined out on the block and so all the machine work is done. I actually started off with a differant mexican block but it was a big 30 over and paul suggested swapping blocks with his standard bore block and having it machined precisely. So ofcourse I took his advice and did it.

So 1st things 1st. Paul drilled and tapped the water coolant holes that was on the deck of the block. I guess the old blocks have the holes and the new ones don't so we tapped them and put the plugs in.

Second, We put the block on the drill press and drilled our holes for the lifter valley supports. And we drilled and tapped the center of the valley for the allen screws that hold the support down. In the pic with the RED arrows on it you can see where the pins go. I some how didnt get a pic with the lifter valley support on it. oops

Next we tanked the block again for about 30 minutes and then Paul installed the cam bearings. Then we put in the crank, main support, cam, 1 rod with one piston, one head, 2 push rods, and 2 rockers and checked the piston to valve clearance. Every things checked out A Ok So here's some extra pics of the work being done

Now for 2 more pics. These are a set of cnc ed high ports. I wish they was mine but I have a set of unported heads. Probably next year I'll get my heads done.

I talked with paul earlier and he said he took the block apart and painted the block. This week we should be finishing up the short block and possibly the long block. We are both pretty busy guys so were trying to get to this we we both have time. He's doing a majority of the work and I'm snapping pics. But we was going to do a 28oz balance on the engine but paul just decided were going to do a 0oz balance on it. So thats better for me.....hehe. I'll keep everything updated and as soon as the engine and trans are in I'll start on the turbo setup. I know that alot of guys are probably waiting on that one.... Me included :2thumbs:

we are going to see how much boost a mexican block can handle!!! i'm think with a internal balance and a girlded block i should make 800hp and last a little for a little bit  stay tunned for more updates !!

I am using a Mexican block in my build and it threw me for a loop when you had to drill and tap the deck for water passages. Please explain that.

From what paul briefly said to me was that it can cause problems with the gasket seal. The passages are open coolant passages and the heads and the gaskets don't have the passages on them so with that being like that it can cause gasket sealing problems. It was new for me also. He did say the new blocks don't have those passages on them and I checked a roller block in the shop and it did not have the passages on the deck.

Thanks. I will confess I really never bothered to look. I will check the block in my shop tomorrow and see what needs to be done to block those.

    Thanks,
    Eric
