i have one on my car and it is very quiet(turndown) before rear axle. No cats on a 2002 v6. Outside the car you can hardly hear it, but it is kind of loud inside with the turn down.

I have them on my car and they sound great. I have a 3" downpipe to flowmaster y pipe, 2 1/2" pipe to maxflow muffler to, 2 1/2" tailpipes. The idle is reatively quiet but it sounds strong. WOT is nothing like flowmasters and I get compliments on them all the time.

I was looking at a decibel comparison between the maxflows and a 2 chamber flowmaster, the maxflows were significantly quieter. Also looked at a flow comparison between the maxflow and a straight piece of pipe and the maxflows had only a 3 cfm loss according to hooker. According to these guys they flowed the exact same! It is by far the best flowing true muffler that I have found.

Note that flowmasters flow less than half of a piece of straight pipe...that's pretty horrible.

anyone compare them with the ultraflows. I have the ultraflows on my car and they are pretty quiet but from the clips I heard these maxflows sound like stock. do they both flow about the same also?

I don't know if its my motor or what, but they have a very DEEP sound. I don't think my camera can pick it up. It is still pretty quiet, but its definately got some powerful deep resonance to it. I don't know how to describe it, but I really like it.

i have them on my car they are quiet but they are heavy

i like the sound over every other muffler i have heard

one of the magazines did a muffler test and the bassani real street muffler was first and the hooker max flows was second flowmasters was way down on the list

i think for the hp they keep freed up and the money you cant beat them

oh yeah did i mention they are heavvy

Were the bassani's as quiet as the maxflows? Thats what I am looking at, if a muffler performs well and is quiet then it is a quality piece with some research behind it. Flowmasters are a gimmick, they sound good but they are just some shit a guy threw together and said man that sounds good. I don't like the fact that the maxflows are heavy, but honestly what muffler is light? I bought a set of spintechs one time and noticed they were also very heavy. I am only going to running a single muffler so the weight of it won't be as critical as two of them would be.

I wonder what the hp/flow differences between those two would be, the muffler flow comparisons showed that a glass pack style muffler sucked.

i cant recall on thier test if they were but i have heard a purestreet car with about the same setup as i got and his was louder than my car at idle.

i was just suprised at the weight i have used several types of mufflers these were the heaviest

i dont care about the weight that much either i like the way they sound

plus everyone will not be saying ohh just another mustang with flowmasters now they will stop and say what mufflers are those

LOL, seems like every mustang at one point in time has had a flowmaster on it at some point in time!

I am very proud to say that my old '84 NEVER had a pair on it. :D But when I bought the car that I have now, that was the ONLY mod that it had done to it. :bang: Needless to say, I promptly removed them and put a set of Hooker Aerochambers on it. Then when the turbo kit came, I switched to the Max Flows and I don't see myself running any other muffler anytime soon.
