    Hi all,

I just thought I would drop in a give you an update on my Silver 93 Lightning... About 4 years ago when I started on this project the plan was to build a truck that would run consistent low 10's and do it reliably... Example not have to work on it all the time! Well, All the hard work has finally paid off... This year I went to all the big races that I wanted to... WFC, Indy truck bash, Lightning Fest and several local test N tunes... All I did to the truck this season is change the spark plugs once and clean it after each outing... Anyways, a couple of weeks ago I went to Lightning Fest 4 which is a Ford Lightning truck event held at KCIR... The truck ran 10.24 @ 131 six of nine passes during test n tune! For those who have said that carbs or turbo's are not very consistent I think I proved that theory wrong! My carb is currently working great but I'm at the limit of what it can do without further mods... The carb is a Carb Shop 750 that was setup for my old milder combination ( smaller heads, Cam intake and Novi 2000) with that setup it worked perfect out of the box but since I have stepped it up I have done the vent tube mod which dropped the A/F about 1 point, removed the fuel blow cross over line which dropped A/F about 1/2 point and have drilled the rear jets to .154 which is about the same size as the jet extension... Every time I drilled the jets bigger it responded to richer A/F readings but now I'm at the end of the line with that... I also installed a set of .140 bottom feed needle & seats but unfortunately it didn't change the A/F at all... I'm guessing my lack fuel is in the circuits or the boosters and not a fuel bowl volume issue as some have had great results with the larger bottom feed needle & seats... Max power is at 15 psi with an A/F of 12.5... If I try to run more boost it leans out and slows down... I think I'm going to consult the master and see what we need to do to this carb to get some more fuel through it... In the mean time I have a CSU 850 from a friends /customers truck that is supposed to be setup to support more HP so I'm going to install it and give a go... If I can get some more boost and fuel into this motor hopefully I will see a single digit pass before the track closes for the winter...

Below is a couple of new pictures...

and a video of me vs a late model chevy truck... I believe the guys name is Parish and it is the fastest 99 and up chevy street /strip type truck out there... It has built 408ci motor based on the GM 6.0, twin turbos, etc and the crazy thing is that it is 4WD! He has the 305/45/18 Nitto drag radials on all 4 wheels and he drives around the water pulls up to the line with no burn out... I thought it was a very cool truck and we had a hell of a race! I went 1.43 60ft 10.24 @ 131 to his 1.53 60ft 10.30 @132

That's awesome! You might try CSU on the carb. I just went 9.88@142 in my 3600lb beast the other day. AFR was 11.9 with only a 67 and 74 jets in the carb, no vent tube mod. Cruise AFR is 13.5-14.

Very cool truck. Your first combo sounds real similar to the one i built for this truck-

    347"
    Ported Windsor jr. heads

Last weekend they went 9.52/140. Gotta love a fast heavy 'ol truck.

    Thanks guys!

Brent, I will give you a ring after I test the CSU 850...

Chris406, that sounds great! I hope the one I have works that well... Is yours an 850 or 750?

Gerry, The guy decided he wanted to go air to air and he is having Bell Intercoolers make the unit since they have the core we need...

Shawn, That is a nice truck you have there!

jdpepper, The coating was purchased form a place in WA, State I can't recall the name of the company but it is a satin silver exhaust coating they sell that is rated to 1800 degrees... It has turned more grey in color in the hot spots but it is holding up well... It has been on there about two years now... Maybe 50-60 passes & 1000 street miles...
