[move]I LOVE THIS THREAD!! I LOVE THIS THREAD!!![/move]

I also just picked up a V6 car, a 2000 model 5-speed. They are so unbelievably cheap right now - and INSURANCE is WAY cheaper than a GT, too.

I am going to do a simple single turbo set-up on it as well, and this thread is an answer to my prayers!

James, you and DynoDan came up with a couple of REALLY great set ups!! (the back-to-back MAF's was actually a good idea to get it finished quickly!!)

I am not going to go with a megasquirt(my hands are tied),
and I need to try to keep it emissions legal enough to just keep the "check engine" light off long enough to get it inspected each year (Texas doesn't care if a turbo is ADDED as long as EGR and cat converters and stuff are still there)

I don't mean to hijack your thread, but this thread is the answer to get pretty much all the other V6 guys out there headed in a good direction, and I think I am not the only one that needs all the HELP I CAN GET when it comes time to tune this thing!! (suggestions for modifying stock ECU and which fuel upgrades??)

I found the OEM cast elbow from the Cummins Ram and it worked great for me. The only down side was the fact that the elbow was $50, and the clamp was about $23........sheesh. I know that this puppy won't blow off under pressure.

Also, not sure if this helps....

The turbo I picked up had the stock "dump elbow" off the turbine housing.  It's similar to the cast piece on the 2.3 Fords, just a 90 degree elbow with the "ball" portion of a "ball and socket" joint.  I tossed that piece in the chop saw, whacked off the elbow, and then welded a v-band to the stock flange.

    Thanks, Matt.

Did that too! Found a LOT of GREAT pics!

Also found some great pics on http://extremev6racing.com//turbov6stangs/

My set up will be VERY similar to Tux Mask Andy's in this pic:

No, I have three welders (Plus an Oxy/Acety torch) and do all my own work,. Engines, chassis, turbo set-ups etc.

I was using that picture for reference because he and I think alike.....The way the turbo is positioned, and sending the downpipe over to the passenger side all make more sense to me. I already had the idea, but his picture shows what I was thinking.

mystang - the power steering line you are referring to is still there. I just unbolted the bracket from the frame rail, and then rotated the line down and forward. I'll secure the line out of the way as best I can, but it's definitely going to need some thermal protection.

It's an excellent project to redeem an otherwise tepid car. Much credit for doing it all yourself too! :2thumbs:
