Which would be best, MSD 10 or Digital 7 for ultra boosted race applications. Talking horse power in the 1500 + range. I am trying to stay ahead of the project on the parts buying and need to do something on this soon. I think I read MSD's site correctly and the milijules on the digi. 7 are much less than the MSD 10

Also my engine will be running on a Big Stuff Will the Digi 7 offer anything that is not already within the BS3 capabilities. I am just not that familiar with the digital box yet.

buy the MSD 10 and be done with it. You will need it. If you go cheaper route and buy the 7, I will sell you mine so that I can upgrade to the 10.

Were making 2000hp with our MSD10 Box. Spend the money and never worry about it again :spend:

Judging from the above responses this may be unpopular, however, I wouldn't put a MSD 10 on my worst enemy's car. I do a ton of work for MSD and we consistently change people over to digital 7 boxes. For example, Pat Musi, Steve Petty, and on and on.

I know the early 10 boxes failed quite often. We went through 3 boxes on a customers dragster when they first came out. According to MSD, they fixed the problem, but the customer refused to use it again and went to Crane for one of their high end boxes and coil. I am a big fan of the Digital 7 boses and even the older 7AL ones too. Several friends with SSO type cars run the 7 boxes with no problems.

Nah, I know a couple guys in the 1800 hp range with a 7al3...

Digital 6 has the output of the old 7al2.... it will do 1000+hp pretty easy...

Digital 6 is fine. Couldn't tell you how much power we make (has never been on dyno), but we went 162.5 @ 3320 LB's on the limiter (still a new car). Making 30LB's @ 8,200.

The digital 7 is a boost tunners dream..You can fine tune the retard..You can do it by boost level, rpm, gear, and more. And you can put a nice ramp on it..Plus the tracion control is nice..I cant see why anyone with a boosted car wouldnt want the digital seven...No pills to worry with..Tunning at your fingertips.

We can do all that through the ecu (MoTec M800).

Thats funny because I know several people that had it the opposite way. Had tons of problems with the Digital 7. I have had MSD-10s and worked great. MSD is this way though, you can send the box in, they will find nothing wrong with it, and send it back. Wala!! You reinstall and it runs fine.

I have the BS3 and the 7 box. I am not sure about the long term effects of the 10 and street use. That is why I upgraded from the 6 to the 7 and not the 10. In hindsight, the 6 would have worked just fine.

We have a 10+ on our car and it works great, also heard there were problems but we have experienced none... also ran digital 7's on more than one car and they worked great as well...
