Man, why does mine spool so slow, I have the PTK street kit, on a 331, Bennett turbo cam, with a TSI built AOD, 3200 stall, 3.55 gear, PT74GTS/.96 with 3" dynomax ultraflows with dumps.
    I get 2500 on 2 step-2.5psi
    3500-3.7
    3800-5.3
    4050-7.8
    4500-10.8
    5000-14.2
    5500-16.2
    5590-18.5
    5700-19.9

This is with my E boost closing the wastegate until 15psi, and max boost set at 20psi, at the track with slicks. This is logged with my PMS interACQ program.

I am getting frustrated, my S trim ramped up like this, HELP!!!!!!

Check your crossover for leaks. Make sure the boost controller is hooked up right. What spring is in the WG? Might want to bypass the E-Boost and see what happens.

I just checked my it and my crossover is tight, and fits perfect, without the E boost and the wastegate closing function, it was much worse.... I routed the lines for the eboost per the instructions, and I checked on here as I saw multiple ways to route it. without the eboost the boost was at 13-14psi and very slow spooling! Thanks for your ideas! anything else I can try or test?

Any Leaks on the Charge pipes? Did you maybe pop a hole in a hose? Check the charge pipes. Also if you have a BOV it might be leaking.

Have you tried turning your gains up on the controller. This should allow your turbo to spool faster, much faster.

Also, I know this is a little crazy. Disconnect the wastegate line and go for a ride, keep a close eye on you boost guage and see if it spools fast. If it doesnt you need to check for boost leaks.

ON the E boost I believe the 'gain' is the 'sensitivity setting' I am not sure how high to go,the instructions say the factory setting of '10' shoud be sufficient, and I asked on onther thread what others are using, and they said 10 to 20.. I am not sure what the max is, I will check and raise it to see how it effects spool. I will also look at the inlet piping, but I think its good. I also have the greddy type r BOV, and I will check it, on the adjustable BOV, they come from the factory with the minimum setting, I turned it in 5 turns, should this be loose or tight?

Put a .69 housing on it.

How would a smaller housing affect the rest of the power band? Would the improved spool be at the expense of major high boost flow? and how big if a difference RPM wise, would an 83 or 69 housing lower spool?

You'll pee yourself with a .69 on there.

Will it be harder to get it out the back door? Yes.

It's a compromise...Smaller will spool faster and make more torque, larger will spool later and make more HP. Depends what's more important to you - throttle response or top end. Depends what block and how high you rev it to...Depends on what size wastegate you have, etc, etc...

If you're concerned about which one is better, buy both the .81 and a .69. They swap out fairly eaisly + They are only $150 or so. You can sell off whichever one you don't like and get some of your $ back.

I have a PT74GTS .96 sitting right here for my A4 302 setup. Brent was able to get 800+ HP with this same turbo on his 302.....

I do not have my engine together yet so I cannot say one way or the other......but it seems to be a fairly small turbo

What heads & intake are you running?
    What do the heads flow?
What is the Timing set at ?
What size piping for the crossover?
What size intercooler (if any) ?

The more specific you can be about the setup the better

My combo is a Dart block 331, TFS track heat intake, the Pro Turbo Kits street kit, I think it has a 2.5" cross over? I got the cam from Bennett, and shift points were to be in the 6500 range. I have TFS T/W heads forted by Fox Lake-305/225 @.600, the PTK kit 27x3x6 3 core intercooler, total timing is at 22* total.
I may buy another housing to see the difference for myself...
I still have to play with the Eboost sensitivity setting.
I am buying a new laptop sunday to run my new 04 PMS upgrade with the Interlog software and make some street passes to record.
    thanks for your help guys!
    What was Brents spool like?

I had a PTK with a 76mm with a .96ar on it and it spooled really quick. I did however have a C4 with a 4500 stall in it so the converter flashed up there and instantly started spooling the turbo. Damn near no lag at all. When I launched at 3000 on the
trans break it made almost no boost. I say
put some more stall in the converter.

    I'd put a .81 housing on it.

Put on a .81 turbine housing or you will NEED to loosen up that converter to at least a 4000 stall if you want to keep the .96.

I think something is wrong. I have almost the same combination but just a few more cubes (347) and my car spools FAST with a 76mm gt42 with a 1.15 housing. I mean really fast. It comes out of the hole at 8psi with a 3400 chip in it, and it's at full boost almost right away after that. That's with no coated or blanketed turbine housing.

Like was mentioned, I'd check for leaks on both the hot side and the cold side. Please don't change the housing, I don't see how you could need to do that with that turbo.

I agree. The turbine housing is not the issue with that turbo on that motor. Check for leaks. Also, when you put the car on the transbrake and floor it, where does the rpm instantly jump? I think the converter is tighter than you think. I don't care what TSI says it is. I want to know what it does in your app.

I dont have a transbrake in my AOD, which is alot of the problem, and I agree my converter is too tight also... But before I send it back in I want to make sure I dont all of a sudden 'fix' the spool issue and then have too high of a stall, I can only footbrake to 2500 before the tires want to spin, with just the footbrake I make no boost on the line, and if I incorporate the 2 step at 2500 I can make 2 psi, then the car gets out a few feet and comes on.. But not like the spool times you guys have on your cars. I have checked for leaks and cant find any, I saw someone did a smoke test on their plumbing and intercooler, how do you do that, and with how much pressure?
I am going down to Anderson motorsports dyno this week for a tuneup, and want to sort out any issues before then, Thanks!

Cruise along in high gear at about 1500rpm and floor it. The converter should flash the rpm up, hold for a split 2nd and then boost should build. I want to know what that flash rpm is.
