Well...I was thinking that I was "Behind" on my posts...but it looks like I'm "up to date"...just forgot what I had posted here.

I did get back to the dyno this Sat to do a backup run and to test the effects of an "OPEN EXhAUST"...

I have been reading up on header design on N/A motors and such...the stuff I saw said a 3" collector that is 18" long ran open should work well...

    Results: worth 1 splitting headache...and a really LOUD (but cool in a pro-stock sorta way) car...and a whopping 4hP.

I can say that I was able to "tune out" that flat spot between 2000 and 2500 and make the curve more "arched" shaped...but as soon as I put the exhaust back on...it cam right back.

I guess my 2-1/2" X-pipe and full exhaust is doing a damn good job already...huh ??

AND NOW THE BAD NEWS...I have been consuming coolant...about a quart a week now for 4-5 weeks...don't know where it's going...but I can ASSUME its being pulled into the cylinder. I did have a problem a while back with a thermostat and some minor "timing" issues to needle out...and it looks like I may have wiped out the head gaskets...all of my backup runs were 284 ish TQ and 284ish HP...so I am down by about 12 on both counts...and the graph nose dives at 6k...AND my oil pressure gauge (stock one) drops to 0 for like a 1/2 second somewhere around 5500-5800 and then goes right back to normal again...WTF???

So...I'm gonna baby it for a while so the wife doesn't get pissed that I'm pulling the motor yet again...and will adress these problems and get back to a good "baseline" before doing any more "power tests".

I did get the Cobra intake that I traded the RPM for...so that is ready to go. Hooker headers are a go too. And I got an F-cam comin as well...cuz I'm SERIOUSLY thinkin this bitch needs about 10 psi of TURBO LOVIN once I figure out which intake it likes...and besides...she just needs to have a turbo...damnit.

Ill make the turbo headers and then sell the Hookers when I'm done.

Anyone think I should go ahead and put a cheap "stroker kit" in it while I got it out...or was that the drugs I was takin ???

    Will update when I can.

PS-another Corraler put a set on a 351 based motor and had the pushrods hit the thru holes with 1.6 rockers ???

don't know all the details...where the heads cam from and whatnot...but wanted to pass that along...mine had TONS of clearance with 1.7's.

    Later...

I'm SO sorry that I posted my numbers on a $728 set of cylinder heads shipped to my damn door. They are double springed to handle .550 lift. I have had 0 problems with them for almost 8 months and the heads were perfect when shipped to me (confirmed by valve leak tests and spring pressure tests, and also to see if they were true by a different local machine shop.)

For that price, I am extremely happy. I made some killer power concidering my mismatched n/a combo, and 8.8:1 compression ratio. I put fear in the local mustang guys N/A. That is no joke.:D

I saw ***cheap cylinder heads***... I posted my results with them.

I had my heads looked at by my machinist and flowed 295 on the intake and 225 on the exhaust. He loved them. He told me they had a thick deck and were one hell of a deal. He did have to clean a shit load of metal out of them though. Also reset the springs b/c they were3 set up for a roller and I told them I was running a hydraulic flat tapet. So all I can say at this point is they look good and flow well. I won't know how they run for a while though. All I do on my car is spend money on it and leave the parts in the cprner. I haven't had time to work on it at all

Do you think these heads will fit on a stock 5.0 bottom end with alittle pistons grinding and a stock cam? They are so cheap and I would be throwing them on a 351 later on anyway. If you think they will fit could I notch the pistons with a die Grinder or should I spring for the Isky Tool?
