Hey everyone, wanted to start a build thread on this POS lol. It’s a 98 S10 regular cab 2 wheel drive. It’s going to be a fun toy to have and cruise and thump some heads with. I’ve got a 355 SBC with a mild cam and 60/63 twins. I’ll keep updating as the build progresses. Feel free to tell me if I’m doing something that won’t work. I’ve been around super chargers and owned turbo cars but never built one. So this is green horn territory for me.

Looks good! Build some support brackets for those turbos, the headers will start to fail fairly quickly if they are the only thing supporting the weight.

I’m building a turbo s10 myself. They’re tight! Map things out and do it again, then repeat that 10 times haha. I’ve had to sacrifice some of the engine bay looks over wanted for functionality and practicality. Going to be fast and fun for sure!

Thank you! I will definitely plan out and do and redo a lot. The radiator is my main concern. Lol

Got time today to work on this POS. Things are tight and I’ll have to figure out the steering but I got started LOL. Please let me know if you see anything I’m doing wrong or that will be an issue.
    Thanks everyone!!!!

Before I popped my motor out tonight i just held the new turbo header in there and mine has a hard hit in the steering box. Really hate to hammer brand new set of headers but its not the first time lol

Facts! I’ve got spark plugs that are 1/8th from the header so I’ll be denting a few tubes myself. I’m going to wrap them so it will be hidden some what I guess lol. Going to get with speedway motors for some steering shaft ideas. May have to figure out a different header for the drivers side.

Depending on what tools you have at hand and skills ive seen people either cut a half moon out of the tube or cut the tube completely and reroute it. The wrap will deff hide alot though lol

That’s a great idea. I can tig weld stainless so I may give that a shot.

Just build your own steering shaft. Get some joints and connect them with 3/4” pipe or shaft. Mount a heim joint off the frame to support it by the manifold and jog it around it to the firewall. That’s what I did minus the heim joint, but was going to do that if I needed to.

You can always reposition them steering column over slightly as well, amazing what half and inch here and there will get you!

Making changes! Got the inter cooler and the charge pipes should be here soon. Just planning right now but I’m liking the way it going. Cut the flanges off the headers to move the turbos up above the wheels and ordered exhaust pipe. But it’s getting there.

Keep in mind the turbine housing can reach 1400*F and higher. You will want blankets and shields around it and some decent air space.

next the intercooler seems a bit small. For just 600-700hp the smallest core I will use is around 36x12x3.
Also how will you run the two turbos through the intercooler with only 1 inlet? Seems strange but I guess if you merged somehow. hmm they make better designs for what you are doing. Just $0.02

I appreciate your thoughts! I was just going to merge the two charge pipes together. I went with that one due to it fitting behind the grille like it does because I have to move the radiator forward into the core support. I’ll definitely take a look at other one though. Maybe I just didn’t look well enough lol.
Thank you again for the input. One question, if that inter cooler is too small will that hinder the performance at all? Or just not cool the charged air down as low as it could be? Don’t want to mess up the turbos.

If it is way too small it will cause you to hit a rpm wall. There was a thread on it a while back, where a user had some significant issues due to a too small intercooler. I'll see if I can find it. If it's just a little too small it will just not cool the charge well.
