It is the FRPP kit. I had to grind the little aluminum tab off to rotate it that far forward.

This is where things sit tonight. A few more pieces tomorrow and it should start.

Its alive. I took it out for a drive tonight, no boosting just cruising and getting the tuneup closer. 1 thing was instantly apparent, losing .25" of stroke costs an awful lot of torque. It is fun to drive and very responsive. Unfortunately 1 of the rad fans decided it doesn't want to work. I checked the thermostat switch and the relay, both are working fine so maybe it is the fan motor. Something to look at tomorrow.

Tonight I found the problem with the fan, it was a bad connection, so that is fixed. I worked on the timing curve as well. Part of the reason it was running warm may have been that there wasn't enough timing at lower rpms. By the time it was done the rain started so I couldn't take it for a drive.

Me too but unfortunately we will have to wait another week. On Thursday I went to start the car to take it for a spin and it wouldn't start. It seemed like the Fitech wasn't injecting fuel after start up so I took it off and put the carb on. After that that it wouldn't fire at all. I went through the MSD troubleshooting chart and found out the box was bad. Just to confirm the diagnosis I put a different box on the car and it started on the 1st crank. While I was working on the MSD I also found the tach signal to the Fitech had come unhooked as well. I called around Friday and no one had a 6530 or a 7531 box so I was out of luck for that particular race however it rained so it didn't matter. I ordered a 6530 since the price I was quoted for a 7531 almost stopped my heart. It should be here tomorrow.

Here's to hoping for better luck next Friday.

It appears there won't be any track results this year. I got the car running great with the new ignition box. It pulls really hard on 6#, would love to turn it up to 12+ but.......... last Sunday after doing some testing I parked it in the driveway briefly to check a few things before putting it in the garage. After I pulled into the garage there was large puddle of oil where the car was sitting. On further inspection there is a large leak in the bellhousing area. So cam tunnel plug, oil gallery plug or rear main seal, not sure which but the engine has to come out again. :( This sure wasn't a good year for me.

Some good news. The machine shop put the 327 on the dyno and found the oil leak. It was at the back of the intake manifold where the head, block and intake meet. They fixed it this afternoon and will run it on the dyno again on Friday to ensure all is well. I also ordered a QA1 K member for the car. It should be here Monday.

Good news for sure. I've always had a fit getting the back of the intake sealed up.

The 327 is all sealed up and test run on the dyno again so it should be good to go back in the car. My new K-member arrived today. I think it must have been drop shipped because the packaging wasn't up to Summit's normal standard and the box was mostly destroyed. The contents seem to be undamaged though and all the pieces are accounted for.

I started installing the new K member after watching the QA1 video on how to install it. It is amazing to me how everything in the video just slides together but in real life it fights you every step of the way. The steering rack hit the driver side engine mount and even though this is supposed to have factory mounting points for the rack my Flaming River steering shaft is now 1.25" too short. I will order a new D shaft and cut it to length after I ensure that everything else is where it should be and the turbo kit still fits. At least now there is a lot more room around the engine.

Is this your missing 1.5"? It looks like the column shaft is further up in the after pic than the before pic. Hard to tell for sure since it is turned a little bit.

That's why not very many people run qa1. They are a bitch to get on and gank the geometry up in the process. Hope you have a better experience than I have.

Doesn't the shaft out of the firewall pull out/extend?

I did see in one video that it could be extended, I will have to look into it further. If it does that would save a lot of headaches.
